Back in 2014 :)

BALADI CAP conducted its forth public training on Finance, under the title of “Payroll Preparation”. The training took place on December 20, and was attended by six CSOs. The trainees received detailed training on Registration at the Ministry of Finance, Taxable Amounts, Amounts Exempted from Tax, Income Tax Calculation, Annual Statement on Wages and Salaries, Employees Annual Statement of Earnings, Registration at the NSSF, Subscriptions Owed to the Benefit of NSSF, Taxable Earnings, Social Security Benefits, Periodic Statements to NSSF, Accounting Entries for NSSF and Provision of End of Service Indemnity.
The training is one of a series aiming at strengthening financial management capabilities of Lebanese CSOs, with the objective of strengthening civil society institutions and improving their governance and management structures so they can face increased burdens of socio-economic development of their communities.

Statement of Comprehensive Income

Comprehensive income is the change in equity (net assets) of a business enterprise during a period from transactions and other events and circumstances from non-owner sources. This statement starts with the profit or loss as calculated under Income statement and contains components of other comprehensive income. Simply this statement contains such line items which are not recognized in profit or loss and if disclosed under Income Statement then it might mislead users of financial statements as they may consider them as regular line items.

The components of other comprehensive income include:

• changes in revaluation surplus (see IAS 16 Property, Plant and Equipment and IAS 38 Intangible Assets);
• actuarial gains and losses on defined benefit plans
• gains and losses arising from translating the financial statements of a foreign operation
• gains and losses from investments in equity instruments measured at fair value through other comprehensive income
• The effective portion of gains and losses on hedging instruments in a cash flow hedge (see IAS 39).

So the statement of comprehensive income aggregates income statement (profit and loss statement) and other comprehensive income which isn't reflected in profits and losses. "Total comprehensive income is the change in equity during a period resulting from transactions and other events, other than those changes resulting from transactions with owners in their capacity as owners." (IAS 1 p.7)
