Give to Gain.

Life has shown me this again and again:
If you give love, you will gain love.
If you give respect, you will gain respect.
If you give goodness, you will gain goodness.

You cannot wait to gain before you give.
You give first — and then life responds.

But there is a deeper wisdom to this. Giving does not mean over-giving or losing yourself. Your boundaries must be clear. You give what you can, from your spirit, your energy, your authenticity — without expecting anything in return.

And strangely, that is when life gives back the most.

As women, we often worry:
Am I getting enough? Am I valued? Am I respected?

Today I want to say — give from who you are.
Give your intelligence, your creativity, your kindness, your truth. The world needs it.

And a message to the men as well:
If you want to receive love, strength, and devotion from women — give respect, honour, and dignity first.

Not equality only in titles or positions.
But equality in humanity.
Equality in respect.

Women are incredibly capable of giving beauty to this world when we are met with dignity.

So today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the power of giving — with wisdom, boundaries, and grace.

Because in the end…
what you give is what you gain.

On the streets of Bengaluru, on the eve of Valentine's Day 💘… I was walking alone through Church Street, surrounded by roses, laughter, couples, and the noise of Valentine’s.

And there I was — by myself.
No plans. No expectations. No one wishing me.

Yet my heart felt… full. 🌼🌸

I stopped to buy yellow and pink roses for the people who have held me with kindness — my friends, the beautiful family I was staying with, and my beloved Devi. And in that very moment, life surprised me. A photographer from Deccan Herald captured me — just a simple, quiet moment of me being… me.

It felt like a gentle whisper from the Divine:
“I see you. I celebrate you. You are not alone.”

Love does not always come wrapped in grand gestures or loud declarations. Sometimes it comes as a soft breeze, a flower in your hand, a stranger’s lens, a quiet smile from the universe.

I didn’t receive a Valentine’s wish.
I received something far deeper —
Presence. Grace. Divine companionship.

Thank you God, for these sweet, unexpected blessings that meet me exactly where I am. 🤍

🌌 🙏🏽 🧿 🪷 👣 ✨ 🔱

I don’t hold on to an identity as an artist — I am simply me.
And that is my freedom.
To be Shoonya and yet be the Kaynath. ✨
To be detached, yet abundantly involved.
To dance with ankle-bells or without them — and remain whole.
To laugh at myself, and at the world.
To be amused by religiosity and dogma, yet rooted in something far deeper than belief.
I don’t believe.
I seek.
And when I seek… I find. 🕊️ 🪔

On Sri Lanka’s Independence Day 🇱🇰✨

At Ārām Live, we sang Ekla Cholo Re — a song that doesn’t shout freedom, it walks it. 👣

Rabindranath Tagore ji reminds us that true independence begins within.
When the crowd hesitates.
When the path feels lonely.
When approval is absent.
You still walk — with truth as your companion and courage as your rhythm.

For a nation, freedom is not only about breaking chains of the past,
but about having the inner strength to stand, choose, and move forward — even if you must walk alone.

That is the India Tagore dreamed of.
That is the Sri Lanka we honour today.
And that is the spirit of Ārām — soulful, conscious, and quietly powerful.

Until we gather again for our next Ārām gig,
may this music walk with you…
steady, fearless, and free. 🤍

🎶 Stay with the music. Stay with the truth. Walk on.

🇮🇳 Happy Republic Day, India 🇮🇳

This Republic Day feels especially meaningful to me.

On Friday, I had the joy of experiencing Anuradha Paudwal ji live in concert- an evening that was nothing short of magical. 🪄 On Saturday, I was blessed with the rare privilege of meeting her in person! (Thank you Kaushi akki!) To sit in her presence, to speak with her even briefly, was profoundly moving.

She was gentle, humble, loving, and gracious- despite being tired after multiple performances and days of immense dedication. Yet, she still made space for warmth, kindness, and genuine connection. That itself speaks volumes of the artist and the human being she is.

This meeting stirred a deep memory from my childhood.

Dil was the very first Hindi film I distinctly remember watching in a cinema. I was only five years old. My aunt had taken my sister and me to the theatre while babysitting us. I did not fully understand the story then, but I clearly remember how strikingly handsome Aamir Khan ji looked, how radiant Madhuri Dixit ji was, and most of all—the song "Mujhe Neend Na Aaye”. That song stayed with me. It has lived in me ever since.

Like many musical millennials who grew up loving Bollywood, my home was filled with Hindi film music. My grandmother owned cassette tapes of us singing classic 90s songs in our Hindi-as-we-heard-it .. 😅 and my strongest musical memories include “Mujhe Neend Na Aaye” and “Bahut Pyaar Karte Hain”. The 90s Bollywood era in Sri Lanka was powerful—radio stations constantly celebrated the voices of Anu ji, Kumar Sanu ji, and Udit Narayan ji etc. Their music shaped our entire generation.

I deeply regret never having the opportunity to meet Lata Mangeshkar ji. When she passed away, I was truly heartbroken. She was—and will forever remain—a Mahā Guru, a legend beyond comparison. After Lata ji, the one playback singer I always longed to meet was Anu ji. And this weekend, that long-held wish came true. ♥️ 🧿 🙏🏽

I carry immense gratitude for this moment—for the music, the memories, and the blessing of meeting a voice that defined so much of my childhood and my love for Hindi cinema.

On this Republic Day, I wish all my Indian friends, acquaintances, and the Indian community in Sri Lanka a very Happy Republic Day of India. 🇮🇳
May the spirit of art, unity, culture, and timeless music continue to connect us beyond borders!

With love and gratitude. 🙏🏽✨

Thank you Roshni for the photo 🤗
