This is another cave where Buddhist monks lived as a hermit. This place is located just above the Bandha Pond in the Ritigala archaeological site. The stonemason at that time was able to create a large drain in this cave to prevent rainwater from entering the cave.

The location is the place where the Ritigala Mahawewa Tawulla Gutthila was killed. This elephant has been targeted by poachers with two shots fired from a shotgun aimed at the tusks. Despite the much discussion in Sri Lanka about the laws and regulations on human-elephant conflict and animal rights, the villagers say that the Department of Wildlife has not done its duty since the day this elephant was shot. This elephant, which had been struggling for life in the Ritigala Mahawewa for eight days, finally died at the scene.
