Customer care is when companies treat their customers with respect and kindness and build an emotional connection with them. Everybody on the team should be adept at customer care, not just a customer service representative or a customer success manager.
Customer care is more than just delivering the services that consumers expect from the business or providing the right technical support. It’s about meeting their emotional needs and fostering relationships. To do so, you must treat customers how they want to be treated. You need to listen to each individual’s needs and find the best solution.

A professional customer care and telephone etiquette program trains staff on core modules like answering promptly within three rings, using a warm vocal tone, and practicing active listening. Programs typically run for 4 to 6 hours and focus on clear communication, proper hold/transfer procedures, and de-escalating upset callers.

Several private institutions such as Lotus Enterprises, Vet pharma and Samudra Institute were involved in this program.
Hence, we successfully completed Customer Care and Telephone Etiquette one day workshop on 28th July 2026 at ISB Auditorium.

Strengthening Sri Lanka's Disaster Preparedness

Industrial Services Bureau (ISB) together with the the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) and the World Food Programme (WFP), held a stakeholder meeting on 30 July 2026 to officially launch the National After-Action Review (AAR) of Sri Lanka's response to the November 2025 floods and landslides.

The meeting brought together representatives from DMC, ISB, WFP, and key partner agencies Janathakshan, National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), CCC, National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC), Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES), Irrigation Department, and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC). to discuss the review methodology, define stakeholder roles, and plan the way forward.

The AAR will assess response efforts at the national level and across the highly affected districts of Kandy, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam, and Kegalle, with the goal of identifying lessons learned and strengthening disaster risk management

The Stakeholder Consultation Workshop for the development of Sustainable and Climate-Smart Rice Value Chain Business Models under the GCF Knuckles Project was successfully concluded on 28th July 2026 at Hotel Swiss Dale, Matale. The workshop brought together representatives from the public and private sectors to review key findings and provide valuable insights towards strengthening the rice value chain within the Knuckles Project area.

The workshop served as an important platform for constructive dialogue, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder collaboration, supporting the refinement of proposed interventions focused on value addition, climate resilience and the long-term sustainability of the rice sector.

We sincerely appreciate all participants for their active engagement, valuable contributions, and continued commitment towards advancing sustainable and climate-smart agricultural solutions. Your expertise and collaboration remain vital to the successful implementation of the Project.

𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐒𝐁

A delegation from All China Environmental Federation (ACEF), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and some Chinese industries who are involved in wastewater treatment had visited ISB on 16th July 2026. The delegation was led by Mr. Shi Xiang, Secretary-General, BRIC Working Committee, ACEF and Dr. Wang Yawei, Associate Professor, Office of Overseas Environmental Science and Technology Cooperation, Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences, CAS.

This visit was mainly focused on leveraging the Chinese industries which are involved in preserving the environment particularly wastewater treatment with Sri Lankan industries through ACEF, CAS and ISB. Also, ISB officials will have opportunities to visit China for trainings, workshops and factory visits.

The meeting was successfully ended up with exchange of tokens of appreciation and a group photo. The discussions in between ACEF, CAS and ISB will continue until they sign a Memorandum of Understanding in near future.
