Leap Day, on February 29, has been a day of traditions, folklore and superstitions ever since Leap Years were first introduced by Julius Caesar over 2000 years ago.

But what can you do to make this very special day even more special? Why not treat this day as a bonus day to make an impact for climate change this year?

Here are a few small things you can do tomorrow just to see how it goes. Take a leap of faith and see where it takes you!

1. Go paperless and cancel junk mail
2. Get a library card
3. Try out a plant-based diet
4. Make your home more energy and water efficient
5. Get your composting game in order
6. Go plastic-free

Now you can celebrate how many of these you can adopt into your daily routine every four years!

Coral Reefs Could Disappear Within Next 80 Years!

The alien world beneath our oceans are dying faster than you can say 'global warming'.

The rising temperatures in the sea make it gradually inhabitable for corals to survive. Researchers predict that 90% of the world's remaining corals would die within the next 20 years and disappear entirely by 2100.

We're several years too late to notice this beautiful organism dying. But it is not too late to take action now!

Today is Be Humble Day!✨

There is no boasting allowed on Be Humble Day. True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.

Encouraging others, focusing on their achievements and giving a friend or a co-worker the props they deserve is an excellent way to keep in the spirit of Be Humble Day.

Rambewa, with a population of 36,000, is a small rural town located on A9 road between Anuradhapura and Medawachchiya. A majority of the population lives on agriculture, primarily paddy cultivation. Due to the climate change and other undue human actions, their livelihoods are in a precarious position today. Most of the women in this area are unemployed and are trying to improve their income by engaging various income generating activities.

Integrated Agro Business Company Limited has identified backyard poultry farming as an alternative source of income, especially for low income families. It has 250 members of whom the majority are unemployed women. Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme-SAPP-IFAD provides financial and non-financial support to the farmers to build their capacity and organizational development support to the company. The SAPP has appointed Lanka Social Ventures as the business support service providers for the company.

Through their effort, Integrated Agro Business Company Limited is launching their brand, Rajarata Free Range Eggs, with the first batch of eggs produced by women in their backyard which is a major milestone in their mission to improve the livelihoods of the members and also improve the nutrition intake of their families, children in particular, through the consumption of eggs.
