TAKING SRI LANKA TO SPACE! 🇱🇰
Mission ShakthiSAT is a revolutionary all-female global space initiative led by Space Kidz India, bringing together 12,000 young girls from 108 countries to learn, collaborate, build and launch a scientific satellite destined for lunar orbit.
For Sri Lanka, this is more than a space mission. It is a historic milestone in education, science, technology and international collaboration.
This life-changing opportunity was brought to Sri Lanka through the visionary leadership of Dr. Sulochana Segera, Founder & Chairperson of Women in Management (WIM) Sri Lanka, in partnership with Space Kidz India.
🇱🇰 18-year-old Seneesa Goonewardena has been selected to represent Sri Lanka, carrying with her the raw scientific talent, curiosity and potential of a new generation of Sri Lankan girls.
Under the local guidance of Dr. Sulochana Segera, Seneesa will join young women from around the world at the Gautam Buddha University Integration Summit in India from August 22–31, 2026, gaining hands-on exposure to satellite technology, scientific collaboration and the process of assembling a satellite payload.
This is the beginning of something much bigger.
From “Taking Sri Lanka to the World” to “Taking Sri Lanka to Space.” 🚀🇱🇰
The partnership between WIM Sri Lanka and Space Kidz India is creating far more than a single international opportunity. It is opening pathways for Sri Lankan girls to access STEM education, advanced technology, scientific innovation and high-value global careers.
Dr. Sulochana Segera’s vision extends beyond sending one student to India. It is about building a generation of girls who believe that the sky is not the limit because they can go beyond it.
One girl. One opportunity. One nation. A whole generation inspired.
We are incredibly proud of Seneesa Goonewardena and excited to see her carry the Sri Lankan flag into this extraordinary global mission.
🇱🇰🚀 Sri Lanka is not just reaching for the stars. Sri Lanka is building its future among them.
