Liberian Foreign Minister Meets U.S. Secretary of State to Boost Critical Minerals Partnership
MONROVIA – In a key diplomatic development today, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Liberia’s Foreign Minister, held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, D.C., aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding American investment in Liberia’s critical-minerals sector.
The discussion centred on opening pathways for U.S. firms to participate in Liberia’s rich natural-resources industry, with both sides emphasising job creation, sustainable development and stronger economic ties. According to a U.S. State Department spokesperson, the meeting explored ways of leveraging Liberia’s mineral wealth for mutual benefit.
For Liberia, this initiative carries major significance. The country has long sought foreign investment to strengthen its economy, particularly in sectors beyond traditional exports. By engaging the U.S. on this front, Liberia signals a commitment to attract high-value partnerships and diversify its economic base.
