Social Mobilization Specialist | Cultural Diplomat | Peace Mediator | Development Advocate
As part of International Women’s Month, Women in Development Network Liberia (WID Liberia) recognizes women whose leadership is transforming communities, strengthening national identity, and advancing inclusive development across Liberia.
Ambassador Juli Endee is a national icon whose work uniquely bridges traditional heritage and modern development. With over three decades of service, she has transformed culture, music, and community engagement into powerful tools for peacebuilding, public health awareness, and social change.
She serves as the Executive Director of the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP), through which she has led nationwide initiatives that promote reconciliation, unity, and civic responsibility. Her leadership demonstrates how culturally grounded approaches can drive sustainable development outcomes and strengthen community resilience.
Appointed as Cultural Ambassador of Liberia in 1995, she became the longest-serving cultural ambassador in the nation’s history, dedicating nearly 30 years to promoting Liberia’s cultural identity on both national and international platforms.
She also holds the esteemed role of Traditional Queen of Liberia, a position conferred by the National Council of Chiefs and Elders. In this capacity, she plays a vital role in bridging formal governance systems with traditional leadership structures, fostering dialogue, trust, and social cohesion across communities.
Her recognition as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador underscores her impact in advancing child-focused development. Through innovative social mobilization strategies, she has supported high-impact health campaigns and community awareness initiatives that directly benefit women and children.
Ambassador Endee has been a pioneer in social mobilization, leading behavior change communication efforts during some of Liberia’s most critical moments, including the Polio Eradication Campaign, the Ebola response, and COVID-19 awareness initiatives. By translating technical messages into local dialects, music, and storytelling, she has ensured that life-saving information reaches communities at the grassroots level.
Her contributions to peacebuilding are both historic and ongoing. She played a direct role in Liberia’s disarmament process in 2003 and continues to lead the “Kukatornon” Peace Initiative, a national platform promoting unity and sustaining over two decades of peace in Liberia.
In advancing gender equality and the protection of women and girls, Ambassador Endee has worked alongside traditional leaders to address harmful practices, including Female Ge***al Mutilation. Through culturally sensitive engagement, she has supported the promotion of alternative rites of passage, contributing to a gradual shift in community norms and the protection of girls’ rights.
She is also the Founder and lead Organizer of the Golden Image Awards, a premier national platform established in 2011 and sustained for over 15 years. Through her leadership, she drives the vision, coordination, and delivery of the awards, which are officially convened annually by the sitting President of Liberia. The platform recognizes outstanding individuals and institutions for their contributions to peace, reconciliation, health, education, and national development, while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and national pride.
On the global stage, she continues to represent Liberia with distinction. As Commissioner General for Liberia’s participation in World Expo 2025 and 2026, she has promoted Liberian culture, trade, and investment opportunities to an international audience.
Beyond her titles and roles, Ambassador Endee’s legacy lies in her ability to connect with people at the community level. She has demonstrated that development is most effective when it is culturally relevant, inclusive, and people-centered. Her work embodies the power of social mobilization as a driver of lasting change, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable communities.
Through her leadership, she represents the critical role of culture and community engagement in advancing national development and social transformation.
During International Women’s Month, WID Liberia celebrates women who are building bridges between tradition and progress, using influence and innovation to transform lives.
When culture meets development, communities are empowered, voices are amplified, and lasting change is achieved.
