Today, on International Nurses Day, WID-Liberia Network proudly celebrates the incredible nurses among our members and across Liberia who continue to serve humanity with compassion, courage, and resilience.

Nurses are more than healthcare providers; they are frontline responders, caregivers, counselors, advocates, and pillars of hope within our communities. Their work strengthens health systems, saves lives, promotes dignity, and contributes significantly to national development and human wellbeing.

In every clinic, hospital, rural health center, and emergency room, nurses continue to demonstrate extraordinary dedication even in the face of challenges. Their commitment reminds us that sustainable development is impossible without strong, supported, and empowered health professionals.

To all the nurses within the WID-Liberia Network and beyond, thank you for your sacrifices, your service, and the countless lives you touch every single day. Your compassion heals communities, and your leadership inspires change.

Happy International Nurses Day!

Today, we celebrate the women whose strength often goes unseen, yet whose impact shapes the future of families, communities, and nations. Mothers are not only caregivers; they are educators, builders, peacekeepers, entrepreneurs, mentors, and agents of transformation.

Across Liberia and beyond, women continue to carry the responsibility of nurturing dreams while creating opportunities for the next generation. Their resilience, sacrifices, and leadership remain at the heart of sustainable development and social progress.

At WID-Liberia Network, we honor every mother and mother figure who continues to inspire hope, empower others, and build stronger communities through love, courage, and purpose.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women raising leaders, shaping change, and leaving lasting legacies.

🌍 World Health Day | WID Liberia Network

On this , under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science,” we reflect on the vital role women continue to play in Liberia’s health system.

Across communities and households, women are often the first caregivers, the constant support system, and the quiet strength behind health and wellbeing. Yet, within our formal health structures, their presence does not always reflect this reality.

Women make up about 23% of the health-related civil service and hold approximately 15% of leadership roles. At the community level, fewer than 30% of paid Community Health Assistants are women, even though many continue to provide essential care in informal and unpaid spaces, often carrying four times more unpaid care work than men.

This moment invites reflection and action.
As we stand with science, we are also called to ensure that evidence translates into inclusive systems where women are not only caregivers, but also decision makers, professionals, and leaders within the health sector.

Strengthening women’s participation is not just about representation; it is about building a more responsive, equitable, and effective health system for all.

WID Liberia Network remains committed to contributing to conversations and actions that advance equity, inclusion, and shared progress in Liberia’s development.

A stronger, more inclusive health system begins with recognizing and supporting the women who sustain it every day.

🌍🤝 WID Liberia Network Women Spotlight Series
International Women’s Month 2026

Sara Beysolow Nyanti
Economic Diplomat | International Development Expert | Crisis Management Leader | Global Governance Advocate

As part of International Women’s Month, we close our Spotlight Series by highlighting a leader whose work continues to shape global influence, strengthen institutions, and advance Liberia’s development on the international stage.

Her Excellency Sara Beysolow Nyanti is one of Liberia’s most distinguished global leaders, currently serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet. With nearly three decades of experience, she has transitioned from a high-level United Nations diplomat to a key architect of Liberia’s modern foreign policy and economic diplomacy.

Her academic foundation includes a Master’s in Public Administration from New Charter University and a Master’s in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University in the United States, equipping her with strong leadership and governance expertise.

Before her ministerial appointment, she served within the United Nations system, rising to the rank of Assistant Secretary-General, making her one of the highest-ranking Liberians in the UN in recent years. She is also a Certified Partnership Broker, with expertise in building multi-sectoral collaborations across governments, development institutions, and the private sector.

Throughout her career, H.E. Nyanti has demonstrated exceptional leadership in global diplomacy and crisis response. As Liberia’s Foreign Minister, she continues to advance a development-focused diplomatic agenda, strengthening Liberia’s international positioning, expanding strategic partnerships, and promoting investment opportunities that support national growth.

Within the United Nations, she served as Resident Coordinator in South Sudan and Nepal, and as UNICEF Representative in Yemen, where she led high-impact humanitarian interventions, including the design of a large-scale cash transfer system that supported millions of vulnerable people during conflict.

Her contributions to Liberia’s development began long before her global roles. As Director of the National AIDS Control Program, she played a pivotal role in securing Liberia’s first successful Global Fund grant, unlocking critical resources to combat HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and strengthening the country’s health systems.

Beyond her formal roles, she was also the visionary behind the Liberian Professionals for Development (LPfD), reflecting her commitment to convening expertise and strengthening development dialogue.

Her leadership reflects a systems-level approach to development, grounded in institutional integrity, accountability, and results. Whether managing complex humanitarian operations or representing Liberia on the global stage, she continues to advance policies and partnerships that position Liberia for sustainable growth and international relevance.

Through her work, she represents the critical role of global governance, diplomacy, and strategic partnerships in advancing national development.

During International Women’s Month, WID Liberia celebrates women who are shaping global narratives, influencing policy, and driving development beyond borders.

When women lead on the global stage, nations rise with strength, strategy, and purpose.

Juli Endee
Social Mobilization Specialist | Cultural Diplomat | Peace Mediator | Development Advocate

As part of International Women’s Month, Women in Development Network Liberia (WID Liberia) recognizes women whose leadership is transforming communities, strengthening national identity, and advancing inclusive development across Liberia.

Ambassador Juli Endee is a national icon whose work uniquely bridges traditional heritage and modern development. With over three decades of service, she has transformed culture, music, and community engagement into powerful tools for peacebuilding, public health awareness, and social change.

She serves as the Executive Director of the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP), through which she has led nationwide initiatives that promote reconciliation, unity, and civic responsibility. Her leadership demonstrates how culturally grounded approaches can drive sustainable development outcomes and strengthen community resilience.

Appointed as Cultural Ambassador of Liberia in 1995, she became the longest-serving cultural ambassador in the nation’s history, dedicating nearly 30 years to promoting Liberia’s cultural identity on both national and international platforms.

She also holds the esteemed role of Traditional Queen of Liberia, a position conferred by the National Council of Chiefs and Elders. In this capacity, she plays a vital role in bridging formal governance systems with traditional leadership structures, fostering dialogue, trust, and social cohesion across communities.

Her recognition as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador underscores her impact in advancing child-focused development. Through innovative social mobilization strategies, she has supported high-impact health campaigns and community awareness initiatives that directly benefit women and children.

Ambassador Endee has been a pioneer in social mobilization, leading behavior change communication efforts during some of Liberia’s most critical moments, including the Polio Eradication Campaign, the Ebola response, and COVID-19 awareness initiatives. By translating technical messages into local dialects, music, and storytelling, she has ensured that life-saving information reaches communities at the grassroots level.

Her contributions to peacebuilding are both historic and ongoing. She played a direct role in Liberia’s disarmament process in 2003 and continues to lead the “Kukatornon” Peace Initiative, a national platform promoting unity and sustaining over two decades of peace in Liberia.
In advancing gender equality and the protection of women and girls, Ambassador Endee has worked alongside traditional leaders to address harmful practices, including Female Ge***al Mutilation. Through culturally sensitive engagement, she has supported the promotion of alternative rites of passage, contributing to a gradual shift in community norms and the protection of girls’ rights.

She is also the Founder and lead Organizer of the Golden Image Awards, a premier national platform established in 2011 and sustained for over 15 years. Through her leadership, she drives the vision, coordination, and delivery of the awards, which are officially convened annually by the sitting President of Liberia. The platform recognizes outstanding individuals and institutions for their contributions to peace, reconciliation, health, education, and national development, while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and national pride.
On the global stage, she continues to represent Liberia with distinction. As Commissioner General for Liberia’s participation in World Expo 2025 and 2026, she has promoted Liberian culture, trade, and investment opportunities to an international audience.

Beyond her titles and roles, Ambassador Endee’s legacy lies in her ability to connect with people at the community level. She has demonstrated that development is most effective when it is culturally relevant, inclusive, and people-centered. Her work embodies the power of social mobilization as a driver of lasting change, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable communities.

Through her leadership, she represents the critical role of culture and community engagement in advancing national development and social transformation.

During International Women’s Month, WID Liberia celebrates women who are building bridges between tradition and progress, using influence and innovation to transform lives.

When culture meets development, communities are empowered, voices are amplified, and lasting change is achieved.
