Will AI replace designers?
Probably not.
Granted, things are rough for the industry right now. Before AI, the demand for designers was skyrocketing because no one else had the skill set to create a poster, a logo, or a banner. But now? Anyone can do it. And they are.
Designers are furious—well, at least half of them. The other half says, "Calm down, it's fine." It’s not the first time in history that technological advancements have caused a sharp drop in demand for a specific field. But gradually, as always, that demand will start to rise again.
Most people are creative, have an artistic streak, and enjoy experimenting. Yet unless it is a true passion, it eventually turns into just another chore: writing prompts, making edits, and—heaven forbid—trying to pick the one good visual out of a hundred. Sooner or later, a quiet thought creeps in: You know, maybe it’s better to just hire a specialist.
They might see things differently, breathe some fresh air into the project, because that is precisely what we do as designers—we create. Things that haven't been created yet. If anything, "creating something new and unseen" will always be a heavy lift for AI; its core mechanics actually run counter to that exact idea.
Naturally, we designers will use AI in the future. Some tasks are genuinely faster with it, but the concept and the core idea remain the ultimate elements.
So spoil your business. Hire that designer. We can all scramble an egg, but somehow, it just tastes better when a chef makes it.
