More Than 100 Animals Hospitalized After Shelter Fire

Turns out a faulty dryer started the fire. The local fire department was able to extinguish the fire quickly. Thanks to “quick thinking” volunteers, all were rushed to local animal hospitals where many were treated for smoke inhalation. The dryer that started the fire is an industrial-sized dryer but the fire was contained within the facility’s laundry room. The facility has smoke damage but is otherwise mostly fine outside the laundry room.
The dogs and cats who were displaced are being housed at the animal hospital. All animals at the shelter are accounted for and have been examined and treated.
So good news…..

For all your fire, smoke and odor issues…Rytech has the answer!! We help get your kitties and puppies settled back into their homes….FASTER!!

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced a change in the style of hard hats it’s emplyees wear and is encouraging employees at all facilities to do the same.

OSHA announced in a press release recently that it is replacing the traditional hard hats used by its employees during inspection visits with a modern safety helmet. The differences in the head gear were outlined in a bulletin from OSHA in November. (See OSHA Bullentin in November)

The new helmets feature a more modern design and materials that help protect workers better, such as face shields or goggles to protect against projectiles, dust and chemical splashes. Some of the newer helmets also offer built-in hearing protection and communication systems for clearer communication.

OSHA recommends the new helmets be adopted for employees who work in the following situations: the construction industry; high-temperature, specialized work and low-risk environments; when performing tasks involving electrical work; working from heights; and when regulations or industry standards require it.
“OSHA wants to make safety and health a core value in their workplaces and is committed to doing the same by leading by example and embracing the evolution of head protection,” the release says.

Water damage and gingerbread houses are not typically associated with each other, as gingerbread houses are made as decorative, edible creations. (Yum)

If your gingerbread house has been exposed to water (oh no), here are some steps you can take:

Dry Thoroughly: Allow the gingerbread house to air dry completely. You can use a fan or gentle heat to speed up the drying process.
Access Damage: Check for any softening or structural issues. If the damage is severe, you may need to consider rebuilding parts of the structure.
Replace Decorations: If decorations have been damaged or affected by water, consider replacing them with fresh ones.
Prevent Future Exposure: Store gingerbread houses in a cool, dry place to prevent exposure to moisture. Avoid displaying them in areas with high humidity.
