BVA Project Launches First Piloting Phase at FIBA U16 EuroBasket Oradea 2026!

Today marks a major milestone for the BasketBall Volunteer Academy (BVA) project! During our latest project meeting, we officially presented and launched the first piloting phase of our brand-new digital platform 👉 www.volunteer-academy.eu to an enthusiastic group of more than 50 volunteers who will be supporting the FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2026 in Oradea, Romania. 🇷🇴

🌟 What Happened Today?
The session brought together a passionate community of young volunteers, project partners, and basketball enthusiasts, all sharing one common goal: transforming how basketball events are organized and how volunteers are trained, managed, and valued across Europe.
During the meeting, we:
✅ Introduced the BVA project – its vision, mission, and the 36-month journey ahead (December 2025 – November 2028), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme.
✅ Presented the digital volunteer platform – walking participants through the features, structure, e-learning modules, and tools that will support them before, during, and after the tournament.
✅ Explained the Code of Ethics and Dress Code – setting clear expectations and standards for professional, inclusive, and respectful volunteering.
✅ Guided volunteers through the Volunteer Application Form – with all 50+ participants successfully completing their registration on the platform.

🚀 Why This Piloting Phase Matters
The FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2026 in Oradea is the first of three major testing grounds for the BVA system. The insights, feedback, and data gathered here will directly shape the platform before it is rolled out at:
🏆 EuroBasket Women 2027 – Lithuania
🏆 EuroBasket U20 2028 – Greece
By starting in Oradea, we are laying the foundation for a standardized, scalable, and inclusive volunteer framework that basketball federations across Europe can adopt.
🤝 Volunteers at the Heart of the Project
Our 50+ volunteers will now become true co-creators of the platform. Throughout the tournament, they will:
Use the platform in real-time during their shifts and duties
Access training materials, guidelines, and event information
Provide feedback on usability, content, and features
Help identify improvements to make the system even better for future events
This hands-on testing is essential to ensure that the final version of the BVA platform truly meets the needs of both volunteers and event organizers.

The BVA project is proudly delivered by a consortium of partners from Romania, Belgium, Lithuania, Greece, and Cyprus, together with experts in sustainability and digital learning. Together, we are building a system that will modernize basketball volunteering across Europe — making it more inclusive, well-organized, and digitally advanced. 💻🌱

Virtual Auditorium Project – 4th Transnational Meeting Held in Rijeka, Croatia
Rijeka, 28–29 July 2026

The consortium of the Erasmus+ project "Virtual Auditorium – Quality of Interaction in the Virtual Auditorium" (ERASMUS-EDU-2023-PI-FORWARD-LOT1101132828) successfully held its 4th Transnational Project Meeting (TPM4) at PAR University of Applied Sciences in Rijeka, Croatia, on 28 and 29 July 2026. The meeting brought together all partner institutions to review the achievements of the past project period and to plan the upcoming activities of the second piloting phase.

Day 1 – Review, Reflection and Planning

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from PAR University, followed by a comprehensive review of the first piloting phase, with contributions and presentations from all partners. Partners reflected on the outcomes obtained through the initial Moodle-based testing and identified areas for improvement in the upcoming phase.

The Technical University of Berlin (TUB) then presented the framework for the Second Piloting Phase, emphasising the need for a longer, more intensive testing period spanning the entire academic semester. The second phase will focus on the interaction between students and different types of digital learning materials, providing richer data on learner behaviour.

In the afternoon, International Hellenic University (IHU) presented the progress of WP3, showcasing the development of three innovative Moodle plugins:

a Student Type Predictor,
a Behaviour Profile Predictor, and
a Behaviour Questionnaire module.
These plugins connect Moodle activity logs to a Python-based prediction model via Flask, enabling teachers and administrators to better understand learners' profiles and tailor the educational experience accordingly. Partners agreed that the plugins should be installed on each partner's LMS as soon as possible, so that data collection can begin with the start of the September semester.

The day concluded with a group discussion on technical requirements of the Virtual Auditorium platform, moderated by IHU, and a convivial social dinner hosted by PAR University.

Day 2 – Coordination and Dissemination

The second day focused on operational alignment. TUB led an in-depth session on the Task & Responsibility Matrix, ensuring that all partners are aligned on their contributions for the months ahead. Discussions covered:

WP2 – Sapienza University's literature review and analysis of LMS integration across partner universities, confirming that Moodle is highly effective for individual learning but less effective in fostering educational relationships.
WP4 – Successful completion of the questionnaire development, piloting reporting and statistical analysis.
WP5 – Progress on the creation of enriched digital learning materials, including engaging presentations, lecturer videos, conversational podcasts and end-of-chapter knowledge tests, to be uploaded to the LMS and reported to the EC by 31 July 2026.
WP6 – Presentation of the measurement foundation for Quality of Interaction, based on four key factors: Social Engagement, Self-paced Study, Negative Platform Experience, and Active Learning Style. The results confirmed that social engagement significantly raises student satisfaction. Two scientific articles have already been produced — one accepted and one submitted.
WP7 – SmartNest presented the dissemination strategy, outlining upcoming communication activities and outreach opportunities.
The formal programme was followed by a guided walking tour of Rijeka, offering partners the chance to discover the cultural heritage of the host city, before closing with final remarks and mutual thanks.

Looking Ahead

TPM4 marked an important milestone for the Virtual Auditorium project. With the plugins ready for deployment and the second piloting phase scheduled to begin in September 2026, the consortium is now moving into a decisive research phase that will generate valuable insights into the Quality of Interaction between students, digital materials, and Learning Management Systems.

The consortium warmly thanks PAR University of Applied Sciences for the excellent organisation and hospitality, and looks forward to continued collaboration in the coming months.

CAAIVE has officially started!

On 11–12 June 2026, partners of the CAAIVE project came together at IHU Serres Campus, Greece, for our kick-off meeting — two dynamic days dedicated to aligning our shared vision, objectives, work packages, financial rules, quality processes, and the roadmap for the first six months of the project.

It was inspiring to see 15 partners from 6 countries gathered around one table to begin this 48-month Erasmus+ journey together. With 7 work packages ahead of us and a strong collaborative spirit from day one, the meeting laid an excellent foundation for the work to come.

During the two days, we focused on:

- presenting the CAAIVE vision, objectives and expected impact
- clarifying partner roles and institutional responsibilities
- reviewing work packages and timeline
- discussing project management, communication, finance, reporting, quality assurance and risk management
planning the first 6 months, key milestones and reporting structure
launching the T2.1 Factor Mapping workshop, with active brainstorming and cross-regional discussion

A big thank you to International Hellenic University (IHU) for hosting us in Serres and for guiding such a strong and well-structured start to the project.

We now move forward with a clearer common direction, stronger connections between partners, and great motivation for the next steps.

What an inspiring two days in Bucharest! 🇷🇴✨

On 9–10 June 2026, the EducationalAI team came together in Bucharest to reflect, celebrate progress, and prepare the final steps of our journey. Our live meeting focused on wrapping up the last work packages, discussing sustainability, sharing what we have learned together, and planning the final reporting.

A special moment for WP4: we were proud to lead the discussions on the Coursera course, testing, Open Badge, and dissemination — and we can proudly say: we did it all!

Beyond results, this meeting was also about transformational learning:
how our thoughts, attitudes, habits, behaviour, and world view have changed through the process, what we need to unlearn, and how we can anticipate the future and contribute to renewing society.

From productive sessions at ASE IRO Office to our visit to the People’s House, and an evening together at the legendary Hanu’ lui Manuc in the historic centre of Bucharest, these days reminded us that European cooperation is not only about outputs- it is also about shared learning, trust, and memorable experiences.

Now we move forward with confidence toward the next steps- including the pan-European webinar on 25 September 2026. 🚀

At the conference “Education, Innovation and Cooperation for the Future of Regions”, organised by LBTU Malnava College, Smart Nest presented the newly launched CAAIVE project.

As the project officially started only in April, the presentation focused on introducing the upcoming activities, planned international cooperation, and opportunities for involvement in the project. The conference provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness and build interest among the target audience regarding AI adoption, digital skills, and innovation in the agricultural sector.

An especially valuable part of the event was the excursion around the college facilities, which strongly connected with the practical activities and future directions planned within the CAAIVE project. It was inspiring to see the educational environment, technical infrastructure, and potential for developing innovation-driven agricultural education initiatives.

Exciting discussions and valuable new connections at the conference “Education, Innovation and Cooperation for the Future of Regions”, organised by Malnavas koledža (LBTU Malnava College).

During the conference, Smart Nest presented the Virtual Auditorium Project and its Moodle plug-in, which is currently being developed within the project. The presentation focused on the practical opportunities for educational institutions to participate in piloting and testing the new plug-in in real learning environments.

The response from participants was highly positive, and Smart Nest received several expressions of interest from institutions willing to join the testing phase of the Moodle solution. Great to see such strong interest in innovative digital learning tools and international cooperation in education.

Today Smart Nest participated in the conference “Education, Innovation and Cooperation for the Future of Regions”, organised by Malnavas koledža, where I had the opportunity to present the results of the Hybredu project.
The project focuses on empowering adult educators with practical digital tools, online learning resources, and training activities to strengthen the use of digital technologies in education and training. HybRedu also supports the development of key digital competences — including communication, collaboration, digital content creation, safety, problem solving, and information literacy — while encouraging educators to design more creative, engaging, and interactive learning experiences for adult learners.
