🎄💖 My love of Christmas and business organisation might sound like two totally different worlds, but believe me, they're more connected than you'd think.
Imagine…..it's December (and sometimes even November). I'm sitting in my living room. Christmas candles lit, a box of Quality Streets open, surrounded by fairy lights and the most meticulously wrapped pile of presents you've ever seen. Each gift is wrapped with pinpoint precision.
And you know what? That's how I approach my business planning.
Growing up, Mum was the queen of Christmas organisation. I’m the middle of 5 children. We’d write our lists and she would be the keeper of said list (even into adulthood!) I remember her having lists of who gets what and what that all cost. Lists of food separated out for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. And they’d obviously be contingency food too!
Little did I know, she was teaching me the most valuable business lesson ever.
Just like planning the perfect Christmas, running a successful business is all about preparation, strategy, and those tiny details that make everything flow like magic. Think about it – when you're buying gifts, you're essentially planning a project. You're setting a budget, researching the perfect items, tracking your progress, and making sure everything comes together seamlessly on the big day.
In business, it's the same idea! You need a plan that's as carefully crafted as your Christmas wish list.
Your budget? That's your present budget.
Your goals? Those are the perfectly wrapped surprises you're preparing for your customers.
And your systems? They're like those colour-coded wrapped presents that keep everything organised.
The real magic happens when you treat your business with the same love and attention you'd give to creating the most festive Christmas time.
Imagine if you approached your quarterly goals with the same excitement as picking out the perfect present. Imagine tracking your sales targets with the same precision you use to wrap a box with ‘hospital bed cornered’ paper.
Start your business planning like you're Father Christmas checking his list twice. Make those spreadsheets, and break down your big goals
