REJECTION EMAILS ARE PART OF YOUR JOB SEEKING JOURNEY, YOU CAN NOT ESCAPE THEM.

Sadly many of you do not reply rejection emails. You just cry or feel sad, and move on to other emails.

Some of you know you are to reply but don't know how to go about it while some others have no idea at all.

Replying a rejection email is crucial as it either helps create a sense of enthusiasm for other/future openings in same company, a sense of networking between you and the interviewer, or gives you an insight on what to do differently in your next interview.

Here's a sample of how to reply a rejection email:

"Dear Benita,

Thank you for letting me know your decision, and also for taking time to meet with me — it was really a pleasure to learn more about the role and organization during the course of the interview.

Of course, it is quite disappointing for me to see this opportunity pass.

But following discussions with you and your colleagues, as well as my prior research, I am keenly convinced that XYZ is the company I will like to grow my career in.

As your team continually grows to meet the challenges ahead, I would be grateful if you would give consideration to my profile when looking to fill future roles.

I will also keep an eye on your website for new openings.

Please don't feel obliged (as I know you have a lot on your plate) but if you are able to share some brief thoughts in what I could do differently to secure a different outcome in my next application I would be most grateful.

It has been great to meet you and your team and I would love to stay in touch.

Thanks again, and best wishes to you and your new hire.

5 Signs You'll Get Hired!

You've applied for the job.

You've done the interview.

Now you're staring at your phone and refreshing your mail, and hoping you get the congratulations message.

Here are 5 signs you're probably in a good position:

1. During the interview they start selling the company to YOU: the interview stops feeling like an interrogation and they start telling you why you should want the job.

2. They ask about your availability: during the interview, you are asked "What's your notice period?” or "When can you resume?”

That's a very different conversation from “Tell me about yourself.”

3. They introduce you to other team members: If they're bringing other people into the conversation, they may already be imagining you on the team.

4. They discuss salary, benefits or next steps: this is usually not a guarantee but definitely worth paying attention to.

5. The conversation becomes more specific: Instead of “If you're selected…” you start hearing things like “When you join…” “Your first few weeks will…”

Good feeling, right?

But, don't resign from your current job because the interviewer smiled at you.

Nothing is final until you receive the official offer.

Until then:

Keep applying.

Keep interviewing.

Keep your options open.

Never stop your job search because one company said, “We'll get back to you.”
