WORKSHOP OPERATIONS MANAGER – DOWNHOLE TOOLS & MUD MOTORS "Libyan National Candidates"
A Company based in Tripoli, Libya seeks an experienced Workshop Operations Manager to lead our Tripoli Technical Facility, the operational core of our downhole tools maintenance and mud motor servicing capabilities. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with commercial interface responsibilities—you will directly support tender preparations, client technical meetings, and business development activities while ensuring our workshop delivers precision refurbishment services that meet international standards.
As we advance through our API/ISO certification roadmap, you will be instrumental in elevating our technical procedures, documentation systems, and quality protocols to achieve full industry accreditation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Operations & Workshop Leadership
Direct all maintenance, inspection, and repair activities for downhole tools including positive displacement mud motors, turbines, measurement-while-drilling (MWD) tools, and bottom-hole assembly components
Manage precision machining operations for tool refurbishment, spare parts manufacturing, and dimensional restoration
Oversee equipment inspection protocols: dimensional verification, non-destructive testing coordination, thread gauging, and performance testing
Ensure all workshop output adheres to API standards (API 7-1, 7-2 for drilling equipment) and OEM specifications for motor rebuilds
Maintain full equipment traceability through repair documentation, inspection records, and material certifications
Quality System Development & Certification Support
Lead implementation of documented operational procedures, maintenance protocols, and technical documentation systems in preparation for API and ISO certification audits
Establish calibration programs for inspection equipment, machining centers, and testing apparatus
Drive internal quality monitoring systems and corrective action processes
Coordinate with external auditors and certification bodies during gap analysis and compliance verification phases
Commercial & Client Interface
Serve as the technical authority in tender preparation: scope definition, methodology development, repair cost estimation, and technical proposal writing
Represent the workshop in client meetings with National Oil Company subsidiaries, international operators, and drilling contractors—presenting capabilities, discussing technical requirements, and negotiating service scopes
Support business development through technical capability demonstrations and facility tours for prospective clients
Translate client specifications into actionable workshop procedures and quality benchmarks
Team Development & Operational Excellence
Build, train, and supervise a team of technicians, machinists, and inspectors; develop national workforce technical competency
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce turnaround times while maintaining precision standards
Manage workshop capacity planning, equipment utilization, and spare parts inventory
Enforce rigorous HSE standards and 5S workplace organization
