Myanmar Signs Power Purchase Deal with Thai Company

Electricity consumption has increased by 15 -19% annually in recent years.

To meet rising demand, Myanmar has signed a power-purchase agreement with a Thai-based engineering and construction company which plans to develop a 388-megawatt liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant.

PTT Exploration and Production plans to invest $2 billion in the development of natural gas fields and power plant construction, which aims for all households to have access to electricity by 2030 in Myanmar.
