A Yaksha (Yaksha) is described in Buddhist and Hindu mythology as a guardian or powerful spirit of nature. They do not reside in the divine realm under the direct command of Sakka (Indra) but live freely in nature, existing as beings between humans and gods. Unlike demons, Yakshas are recognized in Buddhist scriptures as divine warriors.

Yakshas are often revered as village guardians or temple protectors, and legends frequently depict them aiding humans. Additionally, Yaksha statues can still be seen at the gates and foundations of pagodas across Myanmar, placed there to ward off danger.
