As sustainability reporting continues to move higher on the business agenda, Malta ESG Alliance members gathered at Madliena Lodge Restaurant for an evening dedicated to discussion, reflection and shared learning.
The meeting brought together CEOs representing 21 companies, highlighting the growing importance being placed on ESG at leadership level across Malta’s business community. Rather than viewing sustainability reporting as purely a technical exercise, the evening created an opportunity to explore what it means in practice — for governance, transparency, accountability, and long-term business resilience.
The session featured an insightful presentation by Elisa Bevilacqua, Senior Sustainability Technical Manager at EFRAG, who shared valuable perspectives on EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting and the evolving direction of sustainability disclosures at European level.
The discussion was further enriched by Matthew Swain, Head of Sustainability at APS Bank, together with Pinar Bahar Yucel, Sustainability Manager at APS Bank who reflected on their first year of voluntary reporting. Their contribution provided practical insight into the reporting journey, from preparation and internal alignment to lessons learned along the way.
Supported by Alberta and hosted in the welcoming setting of Madliena Lodge, the evening concluded with a networking session, allowing members to exchange views and experiences.
The event served as a timely reminder that sustainability reporting is not only about compliance. It is about building clarity, strengthening accountability, and helping businesses better understand the role they play within a changing economic and environmental landscape.
