Lately, we have seen an increasing number of clients approaching us after late renewal submissions have already placed them in an irregular situation.

Please do not wait until the last minute. Know your renewal window, prepare early and submit on time. A missed deadline can have serious consequences for your legal status in Malta.

The information below explains the important 90-day and 30-day renewal timelines and when health screening may affect your application.

The right to stay. The right to family.

Behind every family reunification application, there are real people — husbands and wives longing to be together, parents missing their children, and families simply wishing to share their everyday lives under the same roof.

We are truly proud and grateful to have helped many families navigate their family reunification journey in Malta. Seeing families finally reunited after months, and sometimes years, of waiting is one of the most meaningful parts of the work we do.

Because at the end of the day, it is never just about permits, documents or applications.

It is about people. It is about belonging. It is about family.

And being able to play even a small part in bringing families together is something we will always be proud of.

This series is about third-country nationals who come to Malta legally to work.  They are recruited, vetted and licensed to fill jobs our economy needs.  An earlier article examined the

Heat Alert. Keep cool and hydrated.

The Met Office has officially issued an Orange Warning (Be Prepared) for this weekend! ⚠️ Please take this seriously and plan ahead. Here is the breakdown of what to expect:

🟠 This Weekend (Sat Aug 29 & Sun Aug 30): Expect a scorching maximum temperature of 39°C—but with the heat index, it is going to feel like an absolutely blistering 46°C! 🔥 (Orange Alert)

🟡 Early Next Week (Mon Aug 31 & Tue Sep 1): We will see a slight dip, dropping the alert level. Maximum temperatures will range between 33°C and 35°C. ☀️ (Yellow Alert)

After almost the whole of Gozo ended up without power last night, let's really hope we don't experience any more blackouts during this intense heatwave! 🙏🔋 Fingers crossed the grid holds up for everyone.

Here are a few quick reminders to beat the heat:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

⛱️ Avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.

👵 Check in on elderly or vulnerable neighbors.

🐾 Keep your pets indoors and strictly off the hot pavement!

Stay cool and stay safe! 🧊💧

A Note to Employers

Take care of your employees. Your actions — or inaction — can have a significant impact on their lives.

For many third-country national employees, their ability to legally live and work in Malta is closely linked to their employment and to the employer fulfilling the necessary obligations on time.

Failing to register an employee correctly with Jobsplus, submitting applications late, or omitting important documentation can have serious consequences for the employee — including difficulties with the renewal of their residence and work authorisation and, potentially, their legal status in Malta.

Behind every application is a person whose livelihood, stability and future may depend on it.

Employ responsibly. Act on time. Get the paperwork right.

Restaurateur who said hiring worker without permit was act of Buddhist compassion has his appeal thrown out

A restaurant owner argued that employing a worker without the necessary permit was an act of charity — but his 65-page appeal was thrown out before the court even got to the substance of his case

A St Paul’s Bay restaurateur who argued that employing a foreign worker without the required paperwork was an act of Buddhist compassion has had his 65-page appeal thrown out on procedural grounds.

Chet Bahadur Khatri, a director of Sagarmatha Group Ltd, which runs Lumbini Restaurant Bar & Rodhi Ghar in St Paul’s Bay, was fined €5,000 in June after being found guilty of employing two people without notifying Jobsplus.

We can't emphasise enough...forged documents?....NOT worth it.

A 39-year-old Indian national residing in Gżira has received a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to submitting a forged document to Identity Malta as part of a family reunification application.

Balwinder Singh appeared in court on Friday following an investigation triggered by the agency’s compliance unit.

The court heard that on 5 August 2026, Identità’s compliance unit flagged a document uploaded by Singh as part of an official application to bring his family to Malta. Upon inspection, the document appeared to have been tampered with.

Identity officials reported the matter to the police, leading to Singh's arrest.

During police interrogation, Singh cooperated fully with investigating officers.
