The Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius, host agency of the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, successfully organised a women entrepreneursโ€™ export promotion mission to Madagascar from 18 to 21 August 2026.

The mission focused on advancing womenโ€™s economic empowerment, enhancing market access opportunities and promote intra-African trade by connecting Mauritian women-led businesses with Malagasy institutions, business networks and potential commercial partners.

The initiative provided a strategic platform for participating entrepreneurs to explore new market opportunities, establish business partnerships and gain valuable insights into Madagascarโ€™s business environment.

A key highlight was the Business Forum held on 18 August at Le Louvre Hotel & Spa in Antananarivo, organised in collaboration with the Economic Development Board of Madagascar.

The forum provided a platform for policymakers, trade institutions, development stakeholders and women entrepreneurs from both countries to explore trade, investment and business partnership opportunities.

Led by Mrs Nirmala Jeetah, Director, Healthcare & Life Sciences and SheTrades Mauritius Hub at the EDB Mauritius, the Mauritian delegation comprised seven women-led businesses in sectors including essential oils, cosmetics, agribusiness, digital services and ICT.

The participating enterprises aimed to understand the Malagasy market, identify new partners and expand their regional footprint.

The Economic Development Board (EDB), host agency of the ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub, successfully hosted the fifth and final session of the SheInvests: Financial Literacy Training Series for Women Entrepreneurs on 14 August 2026 at the EDB Offices in Ebene.

The Financial Literacy series were organized in collaboration with the Indian Business Council (IBC). The last session, entitled โ€œManaging Your Business Taxes,โ€ brought together women entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen their financial knowledge, improve their decision-making capabilities and build more resilient and sustainable businesses.

In her welcome remarks, Mrs Nirmala Jeetah, Director of Healthcare & Life Sciences and ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub at the EDB, reaffirmed the Hubโ€™s commitment to equipping women-led businesses with the knowledge, skills and practical tools required to navigate an increasingly competitive and uncertain business environment. She also acknowledged the valuable partnership of the Indian Business Council in supporting initiatives that enhance the capabilities, confidence and resilience of women entrepreneurs.
