Being a Virtual Assistant kinda sucks
… but it’s also the best thing I ever did.
Got your attention, didn’t I? 😏
Of course I don’t think being a VA really sucks - this is literally what I teach.
But if you know me, I’m straight as an arrow and there are some truths you need to hear.
You’re running a business now. You’re the boss. The Big G. Batman with a laptop.
Which also means: you’re not an employee anymore.
No paid leave, no sick leave, no 13th cheque, no salary magically landing at month-end. And that’s exactly where a lot of people wobble.
Here’s the mind f**k: choose your hard.
Hard #1 (the usual):
Monday–Friday madness.
Early mornings. Kids yelling because everyone’s exhausted.
Two-hour daily commutes.
Doing the job of four people.
Long hours for the same not-so-great salary.
Three weeks’ leave a year and a 13th cheque to “say thanks.”
Meanwhile, balls drop at home, mom-guilt kicks in, your bones are tired, you’re snappy by 6pm, and weekends are a wild rotation of laundry + Netflix.
And you?
Gym… maybe next week.
Yoga… cancelled again.
Coffee with your bestie… postponed (again).
Because everything’s just too much.
Hard #2 (the brave one):
Give the “crazy fluffy VA thing” a real go.
Yes - it’s you, for a bit. Yes - you’ll learn new skills.
Yes - you’ll stretch your comfort zone.
Yes - it can feel lonely sometimes.
But you build retainer clients, create stability, and design a life that actually fits your family and your energy.
That’s hard. But choose your hard.
Because when you push your boundaries (knowing this current life isn’t it), you start to feel better, live better, and get your physical, mental and emotional energy back.
More time for you, your kids, your friends - and the version of you that isn’t running on caffeine and pretzels.
It’s not magic. It’s step-by-step:
Know exactly what to do (a simple blueprint)
Learn a few new skills
Get out of your own head and into action I get it.
14 years ago I left a cushy corporate salary.
What I didn’t love?
My husband doing every school run while I was at client sites or out of the country for two weeks at a time.
When I was home, I had zero mental bandwidth for toddlers. No gym, no hobbies, no “me.”
It was hard to shift - but honestly, most of the battle was in my head.
14 Years later, I’m a launch strategist and VA coach helping other mums swap “money vs family time” for both.
If this hit home, come to my Blueprint Masterclass - Tuesday, 4 November at 12:00 UK.
It’s the exact blueprint I teach to help you start the shift.
It's free and real, and to be fair quite funny (I crack myself up), and I’ll tell you the truth about what it actually takes.
