OUR BACKYARD LOCAL CHICKEN PRODUCTION - FULL DETAILS 👇🏾

Over the past 3 weeks, our 9 hens hatched 90 chicks from - 110 eggs - an impressive 82% hatching rate.
- We experienced only 3% chick mortality, and the flock is thriving.

Our strategy is clear:

• Cull c***s at the right time
• Breed steadily up to 1,000 hens within the next 18 months
• Transition into selling both fertilized local chicken eggs and table eggs

EGG PRODUCTION SNAPSHOT

• Egg weight range: 44 to 46g (small size, acceptable at this stage)
• Laying rate: ~83% among hens in lay
• All hens are on their second laying cycle after hatching once.

FEEDING AND MANAGEMENT

Operating in a backyard setup with limited scavenging space, we formulate our own feed as the primary base.

• For live or dressed chicken sales, this model is less profitable due to genetic growth limits and feed costs.
• For fertilized or table eggs, however, it makes strong economic sense — provided your market values local chicken products.

GROWTH OUTLOOK

Natural hatching means:
- Hens care for their chicks - reducing labor and mortality. - - While slower, this model accommodates gradual increase in management capacity.

OUR PROJECTIONS

• 2,000+ birds within 18 months
• At least 1,000 hens retained
• ~100 c***s for ongoing fertilized egg production
• Surplus c***s and fertilized eggs sold, unless expansion or replacement stock is prioritized
