His Excellency the State President, Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika, on Tuesday 11 April visited the recently completed Phase 1 of upgraded access roads in Area 43 Sector 1.

The 5.1 kilometre roads and 3 bridges were constructed by MDF Engineers Battalion on behalf of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development with INFRACON as consulting engineers and the Roads Authority as Quality Assurance Managers.

MEASUREMENT ENGINEER

The applicants should:
•Have a minimum qualification of B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and preferably registered with Malawi Board of Engineers as "Engineer"
•Have at least 10 years of working experience of which 5 years should be in the road sector
•Be self-motivated with a high level of verbal and written communication skills
•Have high understanding of FIDC especially the Red book

ANNUAL SHUT-DOWN

2016 has been a great year for as we worked on a number of challenging yet exciting projects for our various esteemed Clients. We're proud of our achievements, grateful for the opportunities accorded to us and look forward to the year ahead.

As the year draws to an end, we wish to inform the general public that we'll be shutting down for the festive season from 1630 HRS on Friday 16 December, 2016 and shall resume business from 0730 HRS on Monday 9 January, 2017. During this period, a lean team has been assigned to attend to any issues that may arise at any of our project sites and key stakeholders have been duly informed.

A FEW TIPS FOR THE RAINS

We've spent a good amount of time over the past few weeks following up on the latest weather update as one way of managing risk on our on-going projects. There have been rains in the southern region over the past few days and we're anticipating rains in the central region over the weekend or next few days, according to the Met Department. Please be sure to do the following:

1. Ensure all your vehicle tyres are in good condition and wipers are working properly;
2. Clear all gutters and downpipes to avoid clogging;
3. Clear ll storm-water drains are to avoid ponding of water around your properties;
4. If you have a spare drum, you can use this to collect water from your roof for cleaning/gardening/laundering/hygiene purposes;
5. If travelling out to rural areas, crosscheck with colleagues on the condition of roads and, in the same spirit, share the same with others too; and
6. Take precaution against lightening.

One more thing. Don't forget to buy and umbrella or dig out one from your storage!

Expect hot conditions with thunder showers over few of southern areas, and also few places of Ntcheu, Dedza and Nkhatabay. This is due to dominance of warm easterlies over Malawi. It will be mild to warm and partly cloudy at night.
