Yesterday, Migration and Society (MASO) proudly attended the school closing ceremony at Thandazga Primary School, where we recognized and rewarded top-performing learners with essential school supplies such as books, pencils, and pens. This small support is part of our commitment to motivate academic excellence and encourage a love for learning.

However, many learners still face challenges that hinder their education—such as lack of school uniforms and basic learning materials. Limited funding restricts our ability to reach every child in need. We therefore invite well-wishers, donors, and partners to join us in strengthening our Education Excellence Project, which also includes study circles. Together, we can create lasting impact, because we believe education is the key to success.

MASO was represented at the event by Project Officers Grace Chavula and Kingdom Chavinda.
Partner with us and help shape a brighter future for our children.

Over the past few years, especially in the post-Covid 19 period, Malawians have faced the ever-increasing cost of living. This is a result of the faltering and tumbling of the Malawi Kwacha against major currencies such as the US Dollar, the British Pound and the Euro on the international market. Un...

Migration and Society Organisation (MASO) yesterday joined the M’mbelwa District Council–Mzimba North during the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Panel Discussion at Mzuzu University. The event brought together young people, stakeholders, and community leaders to discuss how we can unite to end digital violence against all women and girls in Malawi. MASO appreciated the insights shared by the panelists: Peter Nyondo from the Gender Office, Augustance Nkhwazi from the Malawi Police Service, and Giddes Msowoya, the NGO representative from Emerge Livelihood, with Maureen Mathala as the moderator. The programme was lively, with music, dances, and drama performed by Mzuni students, adding great energy to the event. Together, we stand as we continue raising awareness and supporting efforts to end GBV. The main event will take place on 10 December at Katoto Freedom Park.

Today, we celebrate all the amazing mothers who fill our homes and communities with love, care, and strength. Mothers guide us, support us, and make countless sacrifices every day to see their families and children grow.

At Migration and Society (MASO), we value the important role mothers play in building stronger families and better communities. We are proud to support and empower women through our programs that help them learn, grow, and lead positive change in society.

During this Mother’s Day, we want to say thank you to all mothers and mother figures for their love, patience, and hard work. You are the heart of our communities and the hope for a better future.

13 August 2025 – Migration and Society (MASO) successfully held a Youth Empowerment Training on Financial Literacy & Sustainable Farming.

This training followed the International Youth Day commemorations on 12 August 2025 under the theme:
“Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond: Financial Empowerment & Sustainable Farming.”

The event was officially opened by MASO CEO, Dr. Harvey Chidoba Banda, who highlighted the importance of mindset change among young people. He encouraged youth to look beyond formal employment and embrace financial literacy as a tool for independence and success.

Our Project Officers, Kingdom Chavinda and Audrey Marphy, facilitated engaging sessions filled with group discussions, inspiring documentaries, and practical lessons on saving and investment culture.

Representatives from Kholongo Youth Club, Kang’ona Youth Club, Youth Action Movement, Mzuzu City Youth Network, and Pakaya Initiative actively participated, sharing their excitement and commitment to passing on the knowledge gained.

Together, we are building financially smart and self-reliant youth for a better future!
