As AI models move deeper into the business, the harder it becomes to manage their risks with yesterday’s playbook.

Banks are rethinking model governance to address AI’s distinct risks while keeping adoption moving at speed. A stronger MRM framework can help organizations build resilience while giving teams more confidence to scale AI. https://mck.co/4wf8Gof

✅ From Legacy to Longevity

We are truly honoured to have been invited as a speaker and panelist at The 3rd Family Business Sustainability & Entrepreneurship Conference (FBSEC) 2026.

Standing alongside distinguished business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers and industry experts was a meaningful reminder that while every family business has a different story, many of us face remarkably similar questions:

✅How do we preserve our legacy while preparing for the future?

As a Chartered Accountant, Financial Coach and Chair of Vistage Malaysia, I shared one belief that I hold deeply:

✅Financial literacy is no longer optional for business owners, directors or family members. It is the language of responsible leadership.

✅A family business should never depend solely on the wisdom of one founder. It should be supported by sound governance, transparent financial information, capable next-generation leaders and a culture of continuous learning.

Throughout the conference, we were equally inspired by the other speakers. Their experiences reminded us that business sustainability is built on far more than profits. It requires trust, communication, resilience, systems, empathy and shared purpose across generations.

✅Family businesses are not merely transferring wealth.

They are transferring values.

They are transferring leadership.

They are transferring responsibility.

That is what creates longevity.

✅My sincere appreciation
A heartfelt thank you to BG International Sdn Bhd, BG Capital Holdings Sdn Bhd and the entire organising committee of FBSEC 2026 for the trust and opportunity to contribute to such an impactful platform.

Thank you for bringing together leaders from diverse industries to openly exchange ideas, challenge assumptions and inspire one another.

Events like this strengthen Malaysia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and encourage more family businesses to move beyond succession planning towards building sustainable institutions that can thrive across generations.

We are grateful to have been part of this journey and I look forward to contributing again in the future.

✅Together, let us continue building businesses that are not only successful today but sustainable for generations to come.

🛑Three coaching questions to reflect on

1. If the founder stepped away tomorrow, would the business continue to grow or merely survive?
Why it matters: This tests whether the organisation has built systems, leadership and governance rather than relying on one individual.

2. What knowledge, values and decision-making capabilities are we intentionally passing to the next generation besides ownership?
Why it matters: Long-term sustainability depends on transferring capability and culture, not just equity.

3. Does every director and family member truly understand the financial story behind every major business decision?
Why it matters: Financial literacy enables better governance, reduces avoidable risk and improves strategic decision-making.

Good decisions begin with good understanding.

Thought-provoking insights from Mr Patrick Luah, Chair of Vistage Malaysia, during FBSEC 2026.

Thank you for reminding us that financial literacy is not just a skill for accountants. It's an essential responsibility for every business leader.
