Ficus lyrata - a beautiful and sculptural plant and is often used indoor at home, cafe and office. However, this species doesn’t fair well in fully enclosed, air conditioned space with little natural light. Continuous exposure to lower indoor temperature especially when induced by air conditioning will lead to the plant’s deterioration.

Usually the leaves will start to brown and slowly drop….leaving less than 30 percent of leaves within three months of being in that condition.

To help the plant recover, position it outdoor in semi shaded area. Water it once in two days or when the soil appear dried. The entire recovery process for potted plant may take months. In the event the plant shows extremely small improvements even after being taken outdoor, it needs to be cut and propagated as a new plant altogether.
