Stealing a bit of time while the kids are in school and being in between doing paid project work...
Of course, I can just create a few AI agents to generate a few SLR for me(I have, but only for my own reading. not to publish.). But it defeats the purpose of trying to understand what's really going on in the field. There are certain things you still need to rely on your human brain to do. So you don't end up unable to comment when questions are thrown to you at presentations. Nobody knows everything, but you at least need to have some answers.
The papers are mostly dry and not very interesting unless you find it relates to your own research. And most of them published after 2021 would have probably been written with AI assistance. But if you can't understand anything, just copy and paste the text to an LLM and see if it helps.
You no longer need to jump from reference to reference just to figure out the definition of something like we used to do back in the 90s.
That however, does not make the task as easy as you might think. The new challenge is verifying what AI is telling you and sieving through information based on your set objectives. The AI can only suggest. You still need to be on the driver's seat.
A deep understanding is always required in any field you embark on. Short-form content will not give you the "edge" you need to progress. But keep in mind that every field is evolving. How you do things tomorrow will highly likely not be how you did the same thing yesterday Your entire process is evolving.
