So this little boy in the middle asked me to hop into a boat (canoe) so he could sail us across the sea. I had asked him what the other side of the sea was like. I told him, "You’re not about to throw me into this river!" He asked if I was afraid, and I replied, "No, just not today." He went on to say that his father owns two boats, and he sails one of them. He even offered to sail me across the sea to Cameroon. I looked at him in disbelief, thinking, "This small boy wants to sail across this huge sea to Cameroon?"
Curious, I asked him how long the trip would take. He said it would take three days to sail there and back. When I asked about the cost, he confidently said, "5,000 only." Before I knew it, the boy was already dragging the canoe into the water, ready to go! I quickly stopped him and asked, "What are you doing?" He replied, "I'm getting ready to take you to Cameroon." I laughed and said, "You and who? You want to throw me into that water, right? If my village people sent you, please let them know you didn’t find me." Then I told him, "I'll be back in a month. When I return, we'll sail to Cameroon and back."
But the truth is, this boy really could sail across the sea to Cameroon, as many people had confirmed. Fear just didn’t let me go—who knows if he might throw me into the water!
