Title: The Heart's Mockery
Once upon a time, in the vibrant days of 2019/2020, I was a student in SS3, deeply enamored with a girl who was a year junior. Our love knew no bounds; it was a symphony of constant communication and unwavering devotion. Despite the advances of others, she remained steadfastly loyal, rejecting all suitors for the sake of our love.
But fate, it seems, had other plans. One day, a deceitful presence crept into our world through the digital realm of Facebook. Someone, Brian by name, cunningly manipulated our trust, using his image to masquerade as me, and vice versa. When I discovered this treachery, confronting her with the evidence, she callously dismissed it as inconsequential, before abruptly severing our bond.
The anguish of betrayal weighed heavily upon me, shattering my focus during the crucial time of mock exams and WAEC preparations. Once a beacon of academic excellence, I faltered, stumbling to a disappointing third place in the mock exams, much to the dismay of my peers and mentors. Even in the WAEC, my performance suffered, particularly in English Language, where I teetered on the brink of failure.
Haunted by the specter of heartbreak-induced failure, I am wary of entrusting my heart to another, lest it jeopardize my vocation as a seminarian. While the path ahead may hold uncertainties, I am resolved not to allow the echoes of past betrayal to disrupt the sanctity of my chosen path, for the cost of love lost should never outweigh the pursuit of divine purpose.
