Modern vehicles, from 1996 when On-Board Diagnostic 1(OBD-1) system became universal, are made up of integrated mechanical, electronics, computing, and software engineering concepts working seamlessly together in what today is called “automotive mechatronics” (meaning, a combination of mechanical and electronics engineering principles).
So when next you see a vehicle that’s being driven, it’s actually a computer that’s moving on four or more wheels.
The problem, however, for millions of our vehicle owners, who ordinarily pay one of the world’s most prohibitive prices for their automobiles is the fact that a sizeable majority of Nigeria’s auto mechanics Can only adequately maintain and repair vehicles made well before 1996; before the commencement of The ubiquitous OBD (or EOBD/JOBD as it’s called in Europe and Japan respectively) application in Automotive mechatronics design cm construction methodology. But worst of all is that a lot of these Roadside mechanics ironically pretend to know how to service and/or repair these modern-day vehicles when in most cases they are literally damaging them and verily frustrating the owners emotionally and financially.
Have you ever seen a vehicle just serviced and yet the “Maint Reqd”, “Spanner Sign” light is still showing on its cluster (dashboard)? That tells you the auto mechanic who did the servicing is some generations behind the vehicle’s technology. Or, has an auto mechanic ever told you not to bother about “check engine”, “service engine soon”, ”VSC”, ”TRAC OFF”, “VSA”, “TPMS”, “VDC”, “VTM-4”, “ABS”, “SRS” etc or other warning lights on your vehicle’s cluster (dashboard)? These are telltale signs that he doesn’t have a clue about what to do!
This proposal is intended to help you and your organization to unravel the seeming mystery and misery that today’s automobiles presents in the course of using them and effecting their maintenance/repair.
We propose to offer you manufacturer specified maintenance/repairs for your fleet of vehicles and a variety of services which will include:
1. Competent Computerized Auto diagnostics
2. Scheduled maintenance plan

Tips and Warnings for Dealing with an Overheating Car
(READ AND SHARE)
1. When dealing with car overheating, your safety comes
first. If your car is steaming or smoke is coming out
from under the hood, pull over immediately and get out
of your vehicle. This could mean that a fire is brewing,
and that is definitely a situation you want to get away
from as soon as possible. If you see flames or any
evidence of fire, don’t even try to open it- just call for
help and stay away.
2. Never open the radiator cap while the radiator is hot,
as the release of pressure could lead to serious steam
and liquid burns. Even when the radiator is cooled
down, be careful when you open it. Use a thick rag to
protect your hand, and when you open the radiator, be
sure to open the lid so that it faces away from you, just
in case steam is released. Never lean over the radiator
to look into it.
3. Do not add coolant or water to the radiator when the
radiator is hot. Doing so can actually crack the engine
block, thanks to the abrupt temperature change – and
that means a small repair just turned into a serious,
expensive problem.
4. If your coolant is entirely gone from a serious leak,
don’t try to drive the vehicle.Call a tow truck instead.
Driving a car without coolant means that it will lock up
in just a few minutes, and that will absolutely ruin your
engine. Be safe rather than sorry and call a tow truck to
come help you

A fuel pump that is failing may cause the engine to misfire and this in turn will cause the vehicle to jerk time and again. Engine misfires may occur quite frequently, most probably three to four times, and afterward the car may run smoothly for several miles. Such signs show that the fuel pump is wearing out, since it cannot maintain a steady fuel pressure.

The radiator fan does a very important job; it cools the radiator tostop the car from overheating. If youhave problems with the radiator fan, you need to take care of them immediately or you could cause serious damage to your car. There are a number of common problems with radiator fans, and if your vehicle has one of them, fixing it is relatively quick and cheap to administer.Visual CheckIt can be easy to be fooled into believing that the fan isn’t working, so carry out a visual check to be absolutely certain. Do this by lifting the hood and listening carefully. Thefan might be on but newer engines can be very quiet, so you don’t hear them when you're sitting inside your vehicle.1. FuseWhenever something electrical doesn’t work, the first thing to checkis the fuse. If you don’t know where the fuses are in your vehicle, consultyour owner’s manual to see which fuse controls the cooling system. Make sure the fuse for the radiator fan is intact. If it is not, replace it immediately, and this should take care of the problem.2. Fan WiresIf the engine is heating but the fan isn’t kicking in, check the fan wires. Start by unplugging the wires. There will be two wires of positive and negative feed. They should be putting out around 12 volts of direct current. Use a voltmeter to check that there is current present. If there is not, you need to check both the wires and the fan relay to see if replacement is required. The fan relay will be under the hood.If there’s voltage running from the relay to the fan, the problem is that your fan is faulty and needs to be replaced. If you do need to replace the fan, make sure that the replacement has the right CFM rating for your vehicle.3. Temperature SensorThe temperature sensor determines when the radiator fan comes on by reading the cooling system temperature. If the sensor isn’t working, your fan won’t come on because it won’t know that the temperature is hot enough to requireactivation, which can frequently leadto overheating. The sensor is usually located in the car thermostat cover. To check it, disconnect the wires from the sensor and touch them together. If this starts the fan, the sensor is faulty andwill need to be replaced. Check your service manual to make sure exactly where the temperature sensor is on your car.4. Coolant LevelCheck the coolant level in your engine. The simplest way to do this is to look at the reservoir in the engine. It will be marked with maximum and minimum levels. Always make sure the coolant level is up near the maximum level to avoid possible overheating.5. Fan ClutchThe fan clutch is the assembly that holds the radiator fan to the engine and makes it turn. If this burns out orfails, you’ll need toreplace it. There are springs within the fan clutch thatcan wear out or corrode over the years. If everything else seems to befine, the fan clutch is the most likely cause of radiator fan failure.

Diagnostic tests are used to determine what repairs are required to ensure a vehicle operates properly. On newer model vehicles, an on-board diagnostics computerinterface is used in conjunction with diagnostic tools and software to help mechanics identify problems.

Light is blinking or flashing.
This can’t be solved by the push of a button. If your overdrive light is blinking (like a turn signal or hazard light), it is indicating that there is a problem with your car’s transmission. It could be the solenoid or possibly the speed or range sensors. There are many different issues that can cause the light to flash.
When your transmission’s control unit senses an issue, it will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in the computer. To determine which component is the culprit, bring your vehicle to a repair shop or buy an OBD2 scanner to get the code(s).
The following example codes all point to a possible shift solenoid malfunction (‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ indicate which solenoid is experiencing the problem):
P0752 Shift Solenoid ‘A’ Stuck On, P0756 Shift Solenoid ‘B’ Performance or Stuck Off – Debris obstructing the mechanical function or flow of fluid. If there are a lot of metal shavings and debris on the transmission pan, there could have already been a mechanical failure and the transmission might need to be replaced.
P0796 – Pressure Control Solenoid ‘C’ Stuck On
P0795 Pressure Control Solenoid Valve “C”
