Gestation Periods for Domestic Animals
• Horse 🐴: 345 days
Long gestation period so the calf is born strong and walks from the start.
• Dog 🐶: 58 to 68 days
Short gestation period, calves are very dependent on the mother at birth.
• Cow 🐄: 9 months
Similar to humans. The calf can stand up quickly at birth.
• Pig 🐖: 114 days
Large litters. The calves develop rapidly after birth.
• Rabbit 🐰: 28 days
Short period allows for frequent births with rapidly growing calves.
• Goat 🐐: 150 days
Strong kids are born that adapt well to different environments.

PLANTAIN SPACING FOR OPTIMAL YIELD IN NIGERIAN AND AFRICAN FARMS

One of the key factors for a successful plantain plantation is proper spacing. Over the years, we’ve consistently seen how correct spacing improves plant health, reduces disease outbreaks, and significantly boosts productivity—whether you're planting on a small scale or running a commercial operation.

✅ Recommended Plantain Spacing Options (Backed by Field Results)

1. 3 m x 2 m Spacing

3 meters between rows and 2 meters between plants within each row.

Ideal for commercial farms looking for a balance between plant density and airflow.

Suitable for planting approximately 1,667 suckers per hectare.

2. 2.5 m x 2.5 m Spacing

Equal 2.5-meter spacing both between and within rows.

Allows for about 1,600 suckers per hectare.

A popular choice among smallholder farmers for efficient land use.

3. 3 m x 3 m Spacing

3 meters spacing between rows and plants in all directions.

Accommodates around 1,111 suckers per hectare.
