A CERTIFICATE CANNOT OPERATE A MACHINE. THE PERSON HOLDING IT MUST BE ABLE TO.

At FCBS, paying your fees and completing a few weeks of classes does not automatically make you a professional. You must demonstrate that you can do the work.

That matters because our responsibility continues beyond the classroom. When we recommend an eligible graduate for an opportunity in Nigeria’s oil, gas and energy industry or through our overseas placement partners, our reputation goes with that person.

Our name means more to us than the fees you pay.

That is why FCBS combines theory, assessments and, for practical programmes, supervised on-the-job training in small groups. Students work towards defined proficiency benchmarks, with time to practise, receive feedback and correct mistakes.

A scheduled completion date guides the training. Demonstrated competence determines readiness for certification. Students who need additional practice must complete it before receiving clearance.

Our aim is to produce graduates who can perform their assigned duties confidently, safely and with the level of independence their role permits.

Our academic and technical team includes doctorate holders, experienced educators, technicians and practising professionals, including COREN-registered engineers. We are building FCBS towards the standards expected of world-class vocational institutions.

Our Skill Development Council Canada certification pathway adds an international certification option. Our placement relationships create opportunities for eligible graduates to be considered by employers. Both depend on credible assessments and people who can demonstrate their skills.

Employers expect competence. Our certification and placement partners expect standards. Our students deserve training that prepares them for those expectations.

We take those responsibilities seriously.

Our goal is to produce the best, not simply the most. That is the FCBS hallmark.

**YOU WANT TO WORK ABROAD. ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE OPPORTUNITY?**

Be careful of agents who promise you everything, collect your money and disappear. Build your plans on practical skills, credible qualifications and a clear process.

Employers need people who can do the work. **That is the FCBS advantage: structured training, supervised practical experience, assessment and certification that must be earned.**

Our certification pathways, job-search resources and recruitment-partner connections help eligible graduates prepare for suitable opportunities. Referrals are based on competence and the requirements of each role—not simply payment of training fees.

**Only 10 training slots remain for our 19 October batch.** If you miss this intake, your next opportunity to begin this FCBS training-to-placement pathway will be next year.

Our practical training requires close supervision, so intake is limited. Waiting could mean someone else takes the space you intended to secure.

BILLE: THIS IS THE OUTCOME WE HOPED WOULD NEVER COME
The reported death of Joy Amos following the 3 September explosion in Bille is deeply painful.
For months, residents have lived with reports of gas bubbling through wells, waterways, compounds and other parts of the community. Now a life has been lost following an explosion that demands far more than another round of concern. Premium Times Nigeria
My thoughts are first with her family and the people of Bille.
But this tragedy must also force a harder conversation.
When a community reports unusual gas emissions, contaminated water, strange odours, bubbling ground and repeated fire incidents, the response cannot remain fragmented.
The priority must now be immediate protection of life.
That means atmospheric monitoring, hazard-zone identification, evacuation where necessary, safe water, medical surveillance, firefighting readiness and clear emergency coordination.
At the same time, the technical work must continue urgently:
Identify the source.
Understand the underground migration pathway.
Characterise the gas.
Assess affected groundwater.
Inspect nearby infrastructure.
Establish ignition risks.
Contain the hazard.
Remediate affected areas.
And communicate findings transparently to the community.
Reports indicate that government investigations have already identified groundwater contamination and that technical investigations into the seepage are ongoing. Premium Times Nigeria
What is needed now is not only investigation.
It is coordinated ex*****on.
Regulators, geoscientists, environmental specialists, asset-integrity professionals, emergency-response teams, public-health experts, operators and competent local contractors must work as one system.
At Frangipani Projects & Logistics Limited, we have been studying situations like this because we believe Nigeria needs much stronger capability around leak detection, environmental monitoring, asset integrity, emergency mobilisation, pressure testing, corrosion control and remediation support.
This is no longer theoretical.
A life has been lost.
The responsibility now is to prevent another.
Bille needs urgency, transparency and a technically coordinated response.
And Nigeria needs to build the industrial-response capability that ensures communities are protected before warning signs become funerals.

I see a Nigeria where Nigerians build the factories, install the energy systems and develop the infrastructure that powers our economy.

That future requires people who can design, fabricate, weld, operate, maintain and solve problems. People who can take a drawing, a tool or a machine and turn knowledge into productive work.

Training is the bridge that will get us there. And training requires investment: equipment learners can practise on, facilities that support serious learning, and instructors who can develop competence.

At Frangipani, we intend to invest over US$1 million in training equipment and facilities over the next 12 months.

We have already made our first US$100,000 investment towards that goal.

There is still a long way to go, but we have started.

Through Frangipani Concrete Business School (FCBS), we are building the capacity to prepare more Nigerians for work in construction, manufacturing, energy, logistics and technical services.

For me, the measure of this investment will be what our trainees can do with it: the equipment they can operate safely, the systems they can maintain, the businesses they can establish and the projects they can help deliver.

We cannot build lasting industrial capacity without investing in the people who will carry it forward.

As we say, little drops of water make a mighty ocean. Equipment by equipment, workshop by workshop, skilled person by skilled person, we will keep building.

This is the Nigeria I believe in. This is the future we are investing in.

A SHOUT-OUT TO EVERY NIGERIAN BUILDING PEOPLE THROUGH PRACTICAL TRAINING

Today, I want to celebrate every training academy, vocational institution, technical instructor, workshop owner and skills-development professional who has refused to give up on Nigerians.

You are doing nation-building work in one of the most difficult environments imaginable.

You operate in an economy plagued by poverty, unemployment and declining purchasing power. Many of the people who desperately need your training cannot afford it, while those who can afford it sometimes do not fully understand its value.

We live in a society that has been conditioned to believe that university education should be respected and paid for, but practical training should be cheap—sometimes almost free.

Yet practical training is enormously expensive.

A university lecturer may teach hundreds of students in a classroom with a whiteboard and a projector. But you cannot properly train a forklift operator without a forklift. You cannot train a welder without welding machines, consumables and protective equipment. You cannot produce a competent crane operator without access to a crane. You cannot teach solar installation without panels, batteries, inverters, cables and testing instruments.

You cannot teach construction without materials.

You cannot teach agriculture without land, tools and machinery.

You cannot teach industrial safety without practical equipment.

You cannot train technicians with theories alone.

Many of these machines and training tools are imported. You must contend with fluctuating exchange rates, import duties, clearing costs and transportation. Then you must buy petrol or diesel to operate the equipment and power the facility.

You must pay instructors, technicians, administrators, rent, insurance and maintenance costs. When equipment breaks down, it is repaired at today’s price—not the price you used when planning your programme.

Sometimes, just when you think you have solved one problem, another appears.

The exchange rate changes.

Fuel prices rise.

Import duties increase.

Equipment is delayed at the port.

A machine develops a fault.

A training venue becomes unavailable.

A student who has not paid completely expects the full programme to continue without interruption.

And through all of this, you are still expected to keep your fees low, maintain international standards, provide modern equipment and produce competent graduates.

It is not easy.

That is why I salute everyone who continues to invest in the practical development of Nigerians despite these realities.

I salute the academies teaching welding, fabrication, construction, heavy-equipment operation, logistics, agriculture, renewable energy, caregiving, ICT, industrial safety and other productive skills.

I salute the instructors who patiently repeat a procedure until the learner understands it.

I salute the entrepreneurs who use personal savings to purchase training equipment because banks will not finance their vision.

I salute those who continue to subsidise training, offer payment plans and give people additional opportunities even when doing so places pressure on their businesses.

University education is important, but vocational and technical education is not inferior to it. A nation needs doctors and lawyers, but it also needs welders, technicians, equipment operators, builders, farmers, caregivers, electricians and skilled artisans.

In fact, every university, hospital, refinery, road, bridge, factory and power plant ultimately depends on practical skills.

We cannot keep importing skilled labour and exporting unemployment.

We cannot continue to tell every young Nigerian to pursue a degree while looking down on the people who can build, operate, install, repair, maintain and produce.

The people running genuine training academies are not merely selling courses. They are fighting unemployment. They are restoring dignity. They are building productive citizens and creating the human capacity upon which industries and nations depend.

So, to every genuine training provider working under these difficult conditions: I see you.

Nigeria may not celebrate you enough today, but your work matters.

Every competent person you produce is one more family with hope, one more employer with access to skilled labour, one more Nigerian capable of competing internationally, and one more step towards a nation that can build what it consumes and maintain what it builds.

Please do not give up.

Our country’s future will not be built by certificates alone. It will be built by knowledgeable hands, disciplined minds and people who have been trained to do real work.

To everyone committed to training and empowering Nigerians: thank you for continuing, despite the cost, the sacrifices and the obstacles.

You are not simply running training academies.

You are building people.

You are building industries.

You are building Nigeria.
