The first five minutes of a lesson is the "make or break" window for engagement.📍📍📍

A great hook or lesson starter creates an immediate "need to know" that makes students sit up and lean in.

To master this, lead with provocation. Try a Visual Puzzle (a cryptic, zoomed-in photo), a Mystery Object, or a "What If?" scenario.

The goal is to spark curiosity so naturally that students shift from passive observers to active problem-solvers .

The secret is the "bridge." Always link the excitement back to your goal by saying: "And that’s exactly why we’re studying... today."

Keep it under five minutes, make it punchy, and ensure it connects directly to your objective. If you win the first five minutes, you’ve won the hour.
