The Imperative of Human Symbols Over the Broom

In this season, the choice before Nigerians is not just about parties, it is about values and what we elevate as a people.

The "two-finger victory sign" of the NDC speaks to triumph through unity and peace. It is a gesture the world recognizes as progress, achievement, and the will of the people prevailing without violence.

The "handshake" of the ADC speaks to humanity. It is the exchange of pleasantry, respect, and partnership. A handshake says: "I see you, I honor you, and we will build together." It puts people first.

In contrast, the *broom symbol of the APC* is a non-human object. A broom sweeps, it discards, and it has no face, no heart, and no covenant with citizens. To center a tool over people is to suggest that governance is about clearing out rather than carrying people along.

For these reasons, the APC should not be given the opportunity in the forthcoming election in Nigeria. The moment demands leadership that celebrates human victory and human connection, not symbols without humanity. Nigeria needs representatives whose emblems and actions reflect people, dignity, and togetherness.
