THE CLIENT I PROMISE NEVER TO WORK ON AGAIN.
Story time….
There’s one client I’ll never forget, not because the makeup turned out amazing, but because I made myself a promise that day. Never again.
So this particular client booked me through my boss to make her up for her daughter’s wedding, Because that week my boss was fully booked. So on that day I went to her house as early as 5pm to glam her up.
The moment she saw me she became defensive, she barely even answered my greeting, sat down. And the next thing she said was….
“I hope you know what you’re doing, because I’m VERY particular.”
I smiled politely and said, “Of course… I’ll walk you through everything as we go, and we’ll adjust if needed.” But from the moment I picked up my brush, it felt like I was walking on eggshells. She questioned every product I used, rolled her eyes when I gave suggestions, and interrupted constantly to ask if I was “sure that color wouldn’t make her look ridiculous.”
Still, I kept calm. I listened. I tried to reassure her.
But no matter how much effort I put in, it wasn’t enough.
When I finished the look soft, natural glam just like she requested, she looked in the mirror and said,
“I guess it’s okay… but it’s not what I had in mind.”
Then she added:
“Honestly, I should’ve just done it myself.”
I was speechless. Her friends were the ones even telling that the makeup look so beautiful and soft on her.
That was the day I drew a line for myself as a makeup artist.
I will always go the extra mile, always bring positive energy, and always aim to make my clients feel beautiful…
But I will never work with someone who disrespects the process, or me, ever again.
