And so, the political season officially begins today.

Welcome to the real game.

Politics is neither academics nor theology.
For the next few months, we will be inundated with manifestos, motivational speeches, moral lectures, political theories and social-media experts explaining how politicians should behave.

Fine.

But politics is a school of hard knocks.

It is about power. Interests. Alliances. Timing. Strategy. Loyalty. Betrayal. Negotiation. Survival.

You can have the best manifesto and still lose.
You can have the loudest supporters online and still get embarrassed at the ballot box.
You can be morally superior and politically irrelevant.
You can be academically brilliant and still be outplayed by someone who never passed through the political classroom.

Because politics does not reward the person who understands only what should happen.
It rewards the person who understands what is happening.
And perhaps that is why some politicians who are constantly condemned by the public keep surviving every political storm.

They understand something their critics don't:
Politics is not played in the classroom. It is played in the trenches.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
