Sydani Group was pleased to be part of the official launch of the Climate E-Smart Agribusiness Partnership for Resilience (CSAPR) Project, anchored in the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Programme, held on 24 July 2026 in Abuja.🌱

The programme brings together climate-smart approaches, agribusiness development and private-sector participation to strengthen the resilience of Nigeria’s agricultural value chains. This is particularly important as climate change continues to affect agricultural productivity, livelihoods and food security.

Representing Sydani Group, Godfrey Petgrave, Agriculture Division Lead, commended the Federal Government for its efforts to create an enabling environment for private-sector participation in agricultural development and strengthen agribusiness partnerships. He reaffirmed Sydani Group’s commitment to supporting these efforts through strategic collaboration with government and relevant stakeholders.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including Dr Kabir Yusuf, SAPZ National Project Coordinator; Dr. Marcus Olaniyi Ogunbiyi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security; Ms. Dede Ekoue, IFAD Country Director; Dr. Isaac Mensah, IFAD Programme Officer; Mr. Sanni Bello, SAPZ Environment & Climate Change Officer; and Dr. Iluromi adebola Iluromi, Director, Federal Department of Development Partner Projects, FMAFS, alongside representatives from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and other partners.

At the micro level, climate-smart agribusiness can help farmers and small businesses improve productivity, reduce climate-related losses, access better markets, create jobs and strengthen household incomes. At the macro level, stronger agricultural value chains can contribute to food security, reduce dependence on imports, stimulate rural and industrial development, expand employment opportunities and strengthen Nigeria’s economic resilience.📈

For Sydani Group, the launch reinforces an important principle: sustainable agricultural transformation is not achieved by one sector alone. It requires partnerships that connect policy, financing, technology, private enterprise and the people at the heart of Nigeria’s food systems.

Healthcare shouldn't depend on your income. That was the thinking behind a new initiative that played out in Anambra State last week.

Sydani Group was part of a coalition, alongside Bloom Public Health, Erba Mannheim, and Worldwide Ventures Ltd., working with the Anambra State Government, that ran a week-long diagnostic outreach across five communities under the Laboratory Optimization Project (ASLOP). The first stop was General Hospital Okpoko, where the turnout exceeded expectations.

More than 200 residents showed up on the opening day.

What made it possible: full blood count, liver function tests, and fasting lipid profiles offered at sharply reduced rates, with a built-in referral pathway. Anyone who screened positive for HIV, Hepatitis B, diabetes, or hypertension was immediately linked to counselling and follow-up treatment, not just handed a result and sent home.

Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, Permanent Secretary and the official overseeing the rollout, put it simply: this was about closing the distance between people and the lab services that catch disease before it becomes a crisis. She personally supervised the Okpoko exercise and credited Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo's backing as the reason the project had room to grow, with General Hospital Agulu, Oraifite, and Nkpor next on the list.

The numbers mattered, but so did the individual moments. One resident described finally having access to a hospital that offers real diagnostic care, something the community hadn't had before. Another highlighted the difference Governor Soludo's support has made locally. And in a quieter but memorable moment, a baby girl was born at Okpoko General Hospital during the outreach, delivered at no cost to her family.

Sydani Group was glad to be part of the infrastructure behind this, not just running tests, but building a system where early detection actually leads somewhere.

Sydani Group recently convened a research assistant training and stakeholder engagement in Senegal as part of the Midwife-Led Enterprises Assessment (MEA).

The assessment explores how private midwife-led enterprises operate, grow, and contribute to quality maternal and reproductive healthcare—particularly for women and girls in underserved communities.

Twelve research assistants supporting the Integration and Economics components of the study were trained through practical exercises, role plays, pilot testing, and interactive sessions covering study protocols, ethics, and digital data collection tools. They have now been deployed across selected study locations.

The team also engaged key stakeholders from Senegal’s health sector, including the Ministry of Health, Nursing and Midwifery Council, private midwife facility owners, and other partners. Discussions highlighted opportunities and challenges around financing, regulation, workforce development, quality assurance, and the integration of private providers into the wider health system.

Together, these efforts are helping generate the evidence needed to inform better policies, smarter investments, and sustainable solutions for midwife-led healthcare in Senegal and beyond.

Nigeria has 2.3 million zero-dose children — the second highest number in the world — a statistic that sits within a broader global push to close immunization gaps for the world's most under-reached children. As part of that effort, Sydani Group has committed to translating global immunization goals into locally-driven, evidence-based action in Adamawa State, where the burden of unimmunized children remains a major barrier to equitable vaccination coverage.

With support from US-CDC and funding from the Task Force for Global Health, Sydani is implementing the STRICAAN project — deploying interventions across micro planning, service delivery, demand generation, surveillance, and data management to reduce the zero-dose burden by 20% across 10 LGAs in Adamawa State. A key tool in this effort is the Micro Coverage Tracking Tool (MCTT), a GIS-enabled platform used to enumerate eligible children, document immunization status, and generate georeferenced data for evidence-based planning.

Following completion of the enumeration exercise, the team held data consolidation meetings at both LGA and state level to validate the integrated dataset. LGA EPI teams, Ward Focal Persons, RI Focal Persons, M&E Officers, and state immunization stakeholders reviewed the data, resolved discrepancies, and reached consensus on the final dataset for RI planning.

The state-level meeting also showcased project achievements — enumeration outcomes, vaccination performance, demand-generation results, and the MCTT and Partner Resource Mapping Tool (PRMT) dashboards — while surfacing implementation challenges and recommendations to sustain progress beyond the project.

State stakeholders committed to using the validated dataset and MCTT for continued RI monitoring, with plans underway to build the capacity of state and LGA M&E Officers to sustain the platform after project close-out. This continued investment reflects Sydani's broader commitment to strengthening local systems in service of the global goal of reaching every zero-dose child with life-saving vaccines.

Cross-border disease surveillance only works when coordination translates into action.

From 13–16 July 2026, the STRICAAN project convened its second Nigeria–Cameroon Border Synchronisation Meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, bringing together surveillance, border health and government stakeholders from both countries.

The meeting assessed progress since the first synchronisation meeting and identified critical gaps in implementing agreed actions, including focal-person designation, harmonised reporting protocols and real-time cross-border notification.

Stakeholders examined the barriers behind these gaps, from limited interoperability between surveillance systems and laboratory delays to weak coordination and accountability mechanisms. More importantly, they agreed on renewed timelines and a stronger follow-up mechanism to ensure commitments are tracked between meetings.

For border communities, effective disease surveillance depends on more than agreements. It requires consistent coordination, timely information sharing and sustained accountability.

Through STRICAAN, Sydani continues to support stronger systems for detecting and responding to disease threats across borders.

Collaboration remains at the heart of building resilient health systems.

Sydani Group, alongside Erba Mannheim and Bloom Public Health, convened a strategic engagement with Commissioners of Health from six states to introduce the Laboratory Optimization Partnership (LOP) and strengthen collaboration towards more sustainable laboratory systems in Nigeria.

The engagement marked an important step toward fostering state ownership and advancing a shared vision to improve laboratory services through sustainable public-sector collaboration. Commissioners expressed strong interest in the initiative and demonstrated their readiness to move forward with implementation.
