Strengthening Routine Immunization Through Partnership and Innovation 🤝💉

Sydani Group, in collaboration with the United States centre for disease control and prevention (USCDC) and Task force for Global health (TFGH) continues to drive targeted efforts to reduce the burden of zero dose and under immunized children across 10 LGAs in Niger State.

As part of this effort, the team commenced the engagement with a high level strategic meeting with the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, at the Niger State Ministry of Health. The meeting provided an opportunity to align on project priorities, strengthen state ownership, and reinforce commitment to sustaining digital tools such as the Micro coverage tracking tool (MCTT) and Partner Resource Mapping Tool (PRMT) for improved immunization performance and data driven decision making.

Following the state engagement, a two day intensive training was conducted for Local Government Area (LGA) stakeholders, including Cold Chain Officer (CCOs), Local Immunization Officers (LIOs), Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officers, Cluster Supervisors, and key state representatives. The sessions focused on project orientation, vaccination and validation processes, disease surveillance, community demand generation through Volunteer community mobilizers (VCMs) and hands on testing of digital tools including Open Data kit (ODK) and Micro coverage tracking tool (MCTT).

These engagements mark another critical step toward improving vaccination coverage, strengthening surveillance systems, and ensuring equitable access to life saving vaccines for every child in Niger State.

Strengthening routine immunization systems in Niger State 💉📊

In response to the high burden of zero-dose and under immunized children, Sydani Group, in collaboration with the Niger State Ministry of Health and partners, conducted a multi day engagement with state and LGA stakeholders across 10 LGAs. The engagement focused on building capacity, strengthening disease surveillance, and supporting the adoption of digital tools to improve vaccination coverage and accountability.

From high level discussions with state leadership to hands on trainings for LGA teams, the sessions reinforced state ownership, data driven decision making, and sustainable approaches to reaching every child with life saving vaccines.

As Nigeria continues to face a rising cancer burden, the need for strong, locally driven oncology research has never been more urgent. Addressing this challenge requires more than policies and infrastructure,it demands sustained institutional capacity to generate, manage, and translate high quality research into action.

The Intermediate Range Capacity Building (IRCB) Programme In Class Training was a NICRAT funded, 10 day hybrid capacity building initiative designed to strengthen internal research competence within Nigeria’s apex cancer research and treatment coordination institution. The programme focused on enhancing skills in oncology and health research design, grant development, ethical compliance, and project implementation.

Through curriculum cocreation between SIRI and NICRAT leadership, the programme ensured strong alignment with national oncology priorities and institutional realities. Participants progressed from foundational learning in oncology and research methodology to developing structured, implementation ready research proposals capable of responding to Nigeria’s cancer control needs.

Participant feedback highlighted the programme’s impact and delivery quality noting the facilitators’ depth and patience in teaching, a highly conducive learning environment, and an interactive, hands on approach that encouraged engagement and practical application throughout the training.

This initiative reflects a broader shift in Nigeria’s health research landscape: moving from externally driven projects to internally led, sustainable research systems built to generate evidence, attract funding, and drive long term impact in cancer prevention, treatment, and care.✨

The future of education is being co-created right now. ✨

Happy International Day of Education! The 2026 theme, “The Power of Youth in Co-creating Education,” is at the heart of everything we do with the Pre-STEP project.

We believe that for education to be relevant in the 21st century, young teachers must have a seat at the table. From mastering educational technology to implementing inclusive classroom practices, our pre-service teachers across Nigeria are proving that they aren't just the "future"—they are the changemakers of today.

🎉 Celebrating the Success of SLL Programme Phase II!

The Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) Programme Phase II, supported by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented by Sydani Initiative for International Development in collaboration with NPHCDA, officially concluded with a successful Close-out and Dissemination Meeting.

Over two impactful days, national and state immunization stakeholders, implementing partners, programme managers, and technical teams came together to reflect on the achievements, lessons learned, and pathways for sustaining the gains of the project.

The meeting provided a platform to:
✅ Share key project results and national- and state-level immunization performance data
✅ Discuss successes, challenges, and lessons learned in health systems strengthening, data use, and community engagement
✅ Explore strategies for sustaining project outcomes and integrating best practices into routine immunization systems
✅ Align post-project actions with Nigeria’s national immunization priorities

The SLL Phase II Close-out Meeting marked not just the formal conclusion of the project but also set a forward-looking agenda to ensure that the project’s impact is sustained, and best practices are institutionalized for the benefit of communities across Nigeria.

Together, we continue to strengthen immunization systems, improve equitable access to vaccines, and build a healthier future for all.

Happy New Year from all of us at Sydani Group!🎉

As we step into a new year filled with hope and possibilities, we celebrate the moments of impact and gratitude from the past year. 😊

As part of our end-of-year Corporate Social Responsibility activities last year, Sydani Group reached out to 45 essential workers whose daily efforts keep our communities functioning.

Across public hospitals in Garki, Maitama, Jabi, and Wuse, our team shared goody bags with hospital cleaners, road sweepers, and traffic wardens. Beyond the items, the visits created space for conversation and appreciation as we met dedicated workers, some of whom have spent over a decade in these roles, demonstrating quiet commitment and resilience.

This activity represents just one segment of Sydani’s broader CSR objectives. At the core of our approach is a long-term commitment to community development, dignity of labour, and sustainable impact. We believe meaningful change is built through consistent, people-centred actions that recognise the often unseen but essential.

Special thanks to the GMP, Dr Morenike, our CSR representatives, and the welcoming communities who received our token of generosity. We remain committed to showing up, listening, and contributing to stronger, healthier communities.

At Sydani Group, safety is a shared responsibility and a critical enabler of effective project delivery 🦺

On Thursday, 4th December 2025, Sydani staff participated in a Security Awareness Training facilitated by our trusted security partner, Deenz Escorts and Security Service Ltd (DESS), in strategic collaboration with Kevlar Swift Global. The session brought together staff across departments and roles for a focused, practical conversation on staying safe.

The 45-minute session covered key areas including:

✔️ Personal security awareness and digital hygiene
✔️ Travel and fieldwork safety principles
✔️ Building and sustaining a strong organizational security culture
✔️ Scenario-based discussions drawn from real-life operational contexts

Beyond the technical insights, the training reinforced a critical message: security is most effective when everyone is informed, alert, and proactive. Participants engaged actively during the Q&A and after-action review, sharing experiences and reflecting on how individual actions contribute to institutional resilience.

Importantly, the session aligned with global best practices, including ISO 31000 risk management principles, underscoring Sydani Group’s commitment to structured risk mitigation and staff welfare.

We appreciate DESS and KevlarSwiftGlobal for delivering this impactful session at no cost and for partnering with us to continuously strengthen our internal capacity.

At Sydani Group, we remain committed to creating a safe, secure, and enabling environment where our people can focus on delivering impact.

At Sydani Group, staff wellbeing goes beyond policy; it is a lived priority 🪥🦷

Last week, we welcomed Saeed Jumah, Founder of The Smile Shop Dental Clinic, for an engaging visit and conversation centered on preventive healthcare and everyday wellness. His session reinforced a simple but often overlooked truth: oral health is foundational to overall health, productivity, and quality of life.

As part of this engagement, certified dental professionals from The Smile Shop conducted complimentary dental consultations and teeth cleanings for staff, providing convenient access to professional care in the workplace. The initiative combined one-on-one consultations, scaling and polishing, and practical oral health education tailored to individual needs.

This visit reflects Sydani Group’s continued commitment to preventive healthcare, early intervention, and creating a supportive work environment where staff can prioritise their health without barriers.

We appreciate Saeed Jumah and The Smile Shop Dental Clinic for their partnership and for investing in the well-being of our people.
