Meet the Filmmaker: Yehoda Adukwei Hammond (Ghana)
Yehoda’s film ‘Worlds Apart’ is one of the 10 selected films in the African Women in the Time of Covid-19 short film competition, held in partnership with DW Akademie!
Yehoda is a 19 year old, third year Film Directing student at the National Film and Television Institute in Ghana. She is currently interning as a Second Assistant director with Esse Productions. Growing up in Accra, Ghana, she developed a keen interest in the social issues of her country - with a soft spot for girl child education.
Her film ‘Worlds Apart’ profiles Rhema and Erica, two junior high school students in Ghana, whose education has been interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic. The differences in their economic circumstances have directly altered the course of their education and how they cope with the current situation.
‘Worlds Apart’ will premiere on the Ladima Foundation page on 10 July at 15:00 CAT.
From 11 July audiences can watch and stream the film on The Ladima Foundation website (www.ladima.africa); Kenyan mobile-first, digital cinema platform My Movies Africa (web https://mymovies.africa/ and android https://tinyurl.com/yy78zadc); and the Africa In Motion Film Festival website (https://www.africa-in-motion.org.uk/)
‘Worlds Apart’ will also be broadcast on the True African channel, on Premium.Free (http://premiumfree.tv/) - a free bouquet of channels available across Sub Saharan Africa via satellite in West Africa, East and Southern Africa as well as Francophone Africa.
