On the morning after their wedding, Ada woke to the smell of burnt toast and loud humming from the kitchen. She hurried in and found her husband, Daniel, proudly holding a blackened slice of bread like a trophy.

“I made breakfast,” he announced with a grin.

Ada burst into laughter. “If this is breakfast, then our smoke alarm deserves a wedding gift too.”

Daniel laughed with her, and soon they were sitting on the floor sharing tea, biscuits, and the happiest burnt toast in the world. Every little mistake became a joke, every joke became a memory.

Days turned into weeks, and their tiny home filled with laughter. They danced while washing dishes, argued playfully over who made better jollof rice, and ended each evening talking long after the lights were off. When rain drummed against the roof, Daniel would pull Ada close and say, “No matter the weather outside, I’m home when I’m with you.”
