TRAORE TO SPEND SEVEN YEARS IN POWER
Burkina Faso has announces the extension of military rule by another 5 years under an accord that was adopted during a national consultation.
This means, the 36-year-old Interim President, Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, will continue serving in that position and also be eligible to contest in elections in 2029.
Ibrahim Traore took over from then-Interim President Paul-Henri Damiba in 2022. That means he will first spend seven years before any democratic process starts.
Also, he will be eligible to contest in the election. The possiblity of winning the election is high. Before you know it, this guy would have spent twenty years in power. No be military junta!
When some Nigerian youth were hailing this guy, we were cautioning them. We told them that nothing significant had changed. There is no difference between Traore and those he overthrew.
The worst part of it is that many youth have been deceived and misled by AI videos of Traore speaking about his developmental strides in his poor country.
Those videos are fake. Traore does not speak English. Burkina Faso is a francophone country. They speak French, not English language.
