VDM Lucrative Business Empowerment – Episode 2 (What Really Happened)
Episode 2 of VDM’s empowerment show sparked serious conversations online. After interviewing an Igbo businessman in Episode 1, VDM met a lady from Nassarawa State who survives by hawking zobo.
When asked to pitch her business idea, the lady mentioned hair-making as a skill she has. This raised questions from VDM, who wondered why she was still hawking zobo if hair-making is generally more profitable. According to him, a clear and focused business plan is key to empowerment.
As the discussion continued, the lady listed plans such as buying a generator, renting a shop, and paying house rent. However, when VDM decided to reduce the proposed empowerment from ₦2.5 million to ₦100,000 due to dissatisfaction with her business structure, she added that she needed to support her mother and explained the family struggles she had faced since birth.
This moment shifted the conversation. Many viewers felt that while her story was emotional and real, it showed how heavy family responsibilities can affect personal growth and business focus. There was a strong concern that giving out the full ₦2.5 million might end up solving family problems instead of being invested into a sustainable business.
Interestingly, the lady revealed that she sometimes makes up to ₦15,000 daily from selling zobo, which led to another big debate online:
Is zobo selling actually more lucrative than hair-making? Or does consistency matter more than the type of business?
The episode highlights a harsh reality — sometimes, what holds people back isn’t laziness, but overwhelming family burdens and lack of proper business planning. Empowerment requires not just money, but clarity, discipline, and direction.
