In a post on X early Sunday, foreign policy expert Dr. Walid Phares revealed that a major non-j!hd!st region of Biafra is prepared to form a strategic alliance with the United States, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates to defeat what he described as “jih@dist gen0cidal forces.”
“A full non Jih@dist part of , is ready to partner with the US, Israel and the UAE, to defeat the jihadist gen0cidal f0rces,” Phares wrote. “Guess which region? We know where to start the resistance…”
Replies to the post and Phares’ own history of public statements strongly indicate the region in question is the Biafra area — predominantly Christian zone, which has long suffered from att@cks by Isl@m!st groups including Boko Haram and Ful@ni militants oper@ting from the north and center of the country.
Phares, a former advisor to President Donald Trump on foreign policy and counterterr0rism, has repeatedly urged Washington to take decisive action in Nigeria. In recent months he has publicly called for the establishment of an emergency U.S. military base in Port Harcourt — the main port city in the Biafra region — to protect Christian communities, facilitate humanitarian aid, and launch targeted operations against jih@dist networks.
He argues that the Nigerian federal government has failed for years to curb the vi@lence, making external support essential for the survival of vulnerable populations.
The proposal aligns with broader concerns about rising jihadist activity in Nigeria, where thousands of Christians have been k!lled or displaced in recent years. Phares has described any long-term solution that does not address the Biafra situation as “inconclusive and ineffective.”
The tweet has already drawn enthusiastic responses from Biafran activists, who view it as international validation of their long-standing calls for greater autonomy or independence to secure their communities against what they characterize as systematic persecution.
As of Sunday morning, the post had garnered hundreds of views and dozens of engagements, with many users echoing Phares’ call for a new counterterr0rism front in Biafra.
Whether the Trump administration will act on the suggestion remains to be seen, but the veteran analyst’s latest message signals growing momentum for a bolder U.S.-led approach to Africa’s jihadist crisis.
