Sokoto state set to commence construction of Sokoto State University College of Medical Sciences with 2.5bn ASR Africa Tertiary Health Systems Support Grant

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) - brainchild of Industrialist, philanthropist and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, today presented a N2.5billion Tertiary Health Infrastructure grant to the Sokoto State Government for the construction of the College of Medical Sciences at the Sokoto State University, and other infrastructure at the School of Nursing, Tambuwal as well as the School of Health Technology, Gwadabawa also in the state.
This grant was presented during a ceremony at the Sokoto State Government house today.

ASR Africa and BUA Foundation award Gwarinpa Hospital
N65m Health Grant to Replace Medical Equipment

…donates one ambulance and multimillion Naira worth of equipment; set to refurbish entire unit.

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has today, donated multimillion Naira state-of-art equipment and a fully equipped emergency ambulance to the Paediatric Unit of the Gwarimpa General Hospital, Abuja as part of its Health Systems Support Initiative. ASR Africa also announced that it was adopting the Neonatal Unit of the hospital under this initiative as well as providing N500,000 towards a fund being setup to assist indigent patients in accessing quality healthcare at the hospital. These will be in addition to undertaking other refurbishments of the unit.

ASR Africa COMMITS 1BN TERTIARY EDUCATION GRANT TO UNIVERSITY OF BENIN

…in support of construction of a state-of-the-art ICT centre

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) – the brainchild of Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group has today, awarded a N1billion infrastructure grant to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) as part of its 2021 Tertiary Education Grants Scheme.
This was revealed at the grant presentation by the Management of ASR Africa to the Vice-Chancellor and council members of the University in Benin.

BUA CEMENT HOLDS AGM, DECLARES 72.3BILLION NAIRA PROFITS AFTER TAX, PAYS N70bn DIVIDENDS…

…as BUA Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, canvasses for new entrants, more investments, additional capacity in the Cement industry

BUA Cement Plc, one of Africa’s largest Cement companies, today held its Annual General Meeting for the period ended December 31, 2020 whilst paying dividends of N70billion at N2.067k per ordinary share in a move that shareholders applauded. This is coming on the heels of a profitable year for the Cement producer with a turnover of N204bn and declared Profits After Tax of N72.3billion in the year under review.

Speaking at the AGM, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Cement, whilst addressing shareholders and the press, praised the efforts of the Yusuf Binji led management, staff, and customers of the company for ensuring that BUA Cement remained the cement of choice for quality in Nigeria. In his comments on the increased demand for cement which had led to higher retail prices despite significantly lower ex-factory prices, Rabiu canvassed more investments in the cement industry saying that current national production levels across were not enough to meet the ever-increasing national demand for cement which was increasing at a rate over 3million metric tonnes per annum.

He therefore canvassed new investments in the cement sector and encouraged other investors to develop new cement plants. It should be noted that BUA Cement is constructing a 3million metric tonnes which is expected to come on Stream in sokoto by the end of 2021 with new plants already in the works.

President Macron inaugurates France-Nigeria Business Council
..as BUA’s Abdul Samad Rabiu is appointed inaugural president

French President Emmanuel Macron has inaugurated the France-Nigeria Business Council – a private sector initiative to enhance business relations between the two countries with Abdul Samad Rabiu, Founder/ Chairman of Nigeria’s BUA Group as its inaugural President. The newly inaugurated council also has Gilbert Chagoury of Chagoury Group, Mike Adenuga of Globacom and Conoil, Aliko Dangote of Dangote Industries, Tony Elumelu, Chairman UBA & Heirs Holdings, and Herbert Wigwe, CEO, Access Bank as the Nigerian members of the council. The largest French companies including Dassault, Danone, Axens, Ponticelli and Total Energies are also members of the council.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the council in Paris on the sidelines of the Business France Summit in Versailles, France, Abdul Samad Rabiu thanked President Macron for his vision in creating the French Nigeria Business Council which has led to a reset in the business relationship between Nigeria and France and has created a viable platform for business from both countries to partner and improve business ties.

It would be recalled that French Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, Franck Riester, had in April announced that the Chairman of BUA Group had been appointed Chairman of the France Nigeria Investment Club.
