The first day of Yiseyon@35 was filled with the buzz of debate as eight teams from different classes competed against each other.
The teams were all fired up and ready to show their prowess in rhetoric and logic. The judges took their seats and the competition began in earnest.
It was an exciting and tense day, with each team giving it their all. Afterwards, Basic 5 and JSS 2, and JSS 3 and SS 2 went on to the semifinal round.
The semifinals were even more nail-biting, as the tension built to a fever pitch.
The grand finale of the debate was a hotly contested affair, with the teams from JSS 3 and JSS 2 going head-to-head in a battle of wits.
The two teams put forth their best arguments and rebuttals. YCite Rachael and Suleiman argued passionately that Students Should Be Allowed To Do Chores In School as it is an important part of a well-rounded education, while YCite Rebecca and Gbenga countered that students already had enough responsibilities and should not be burdened with additional chores.
The audience was on the edge of their seats as the debate went back and forth, with the judges looking on intently. Finally, after a long and tense competition, the judges made their decision.
The judges deliberated carefully, taking into account each team's arguments and delivery. They considered the facts, the evidence, and the persuasiveness of each team's arguments.
The judges had a tough time deciding who should be declared the winner, as both teams were incredibly skilled. But after careful deliberation, they decided that JSS 3 had presented the strongest case, with clear reasoning and well-supported arguments.
YCite Rachael and Suleiman were awarded the title of debate champions, and the crowd erupted in applause.
