What began as in the classroom turned into a whole journey

Why do some businesses keep getting ignored when they apply for funding?

A lot of business owners believe getting funding is only about having a good idea or finding the right opportunity. But after working with different startups and MSMEs, we have seen that the issue is often much deeper than that.

Sometimes, the difference between being overlooked and being considered comes down to how the business is structured, presented, and prepared for evaluation.

From classrooms, coaching and brainstorming sessions… to Abuja. ✨

The ICSS journey has honestly been one beautiful thing to witness.

Since June last year, we’ve trained over 420 participants through the Create, Start and Scale modules of the ICSS Entrepreneurship Development Program helping entrepreneurs move from ideas to actual business growth.

What started with trainings grew into coaching sessions, strategy conversations, mentorship, and eventually business pitching opportunities. Watching people become more confident in what they’re building has been one of the best parts of the journey.

Two weeks ago, we attended the official launch of ICSS as an institution at the ICSS4All Launch in Abuja and it felt like such a proud moment for everyone connected to the ecosystem. 💙

Even more exciting? Four amazing business owners from our community were sponsored to Abuja to showcase their products and represent what growth, consistency, and hard work can look like:

And yes, Dani’s Kitchen got the opportunity to pitch her business live at the event. Big moment. Huge win. 👏🏽

Sometimes people only see the final pictures and polished moments, but there’s been so much learning, showing up, trying again, improving, and pushing through behind the scenes.

Super proud of every entrepreneur growing through this process. Abuja was not the finish line. It’s proof that bigger things are possible. 🚀

You probably don’t want to be around when the inside jokes start flying, because productivity may temporarily disappear.

But somewhere between the laughter, random brainstorming sessions, last-minute deadlines, and “abeg who touched this file?” moments… we still get the work done. And we do it well.
