YOU SEE HOW PEOPLE MISS A FAVOUR!
A good friend of mine during NYSC days (prefers anonymity), who is now in Spain chatted me up a while ago. He paid for 3 pieces of ORAIMO 10000 MAH, power banks at #8,500 each. Guess what? He instructed me to give them out to three strangers I have never met in my life. The temptation of giving them to people I know quickly beckoned. But I rebuked it.
His singular act of charity touched me and so, I vowed to carry out his instruction. Then, I went to a distant area but still within Calabar. The first three persons I met rejected the offers even after I had told them that they were free and already paid for by a good Samaritan, somewhere. One of them even said this to me: "O boy, dem send you...?"
It took quite sometime (about 30 minutes) before I could dispense them.
Obviously, people in our part of the world aren't used to charity, favour or common good. When it comes, there are quick to think that there's an ulterior motive behind it.
Thank you dear friend for this rare act of kindness. It is even astonishing that you even prefer anonymity. Besides, your patronage means so much to us.
