🚀 JomoRC Takes Its Mission to the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship!

We are excited to share that Jomo Resource Center (JomoRC) has submitted its application for the Commonwealth Startup Fellowship – Cohort 3.

Our mission is bigger than providing courses.

We are building a technology-enabled learning ecosystem that helps young people acquire practical digital, career, professional and entrepreneurship skills—regardless of where they live.

Today, JomoRC has grown from 52 to 88 market-relevant courses, launched 8 community development programmes, and, through partnerships with organisations including NYSC and CRS-EDC, has facilitated 36 workshops and incubation programmes, reaching 8,000+ young people through physical and digital channels.

The Commonwealth Startup Fellowship represents an opportunity to strengthen our model, expand strategic partnerships, improve our technology and take our impact beyond Nigeria.

🎥 In this one-minute pitch, our Founder, Gabriel Simon Ejeh, shares the problem we are solving, our solution, our progress and why this opportunity matters to JomoRC.

We are not just building a training business.

We are building pathways from learning to opportunity.

Wish us well as we take this next step. 🇳🇬🌍

5 SKILL SETS YOU NEED TO THRIVE IN TODAY'S WORLD OF WORK

You can be very good at your job and still struggle to get hired, keep a job, lead a team, or build a successful business.

Why?

Because technical skills are only one part of the equation.

A well-rounded professional needs to develop at least five major categories of skills:

❤️ Life Skills — help you manage yourself, relationships and everyday challenges.

⚙️ Technical Skills — enable you to perform specific tasks and functions.

💼 Professional Skills — help you operate effectively and professionally in the workplace.

🚀 Entrepreneurial Skills — help you identify opportunities, create value and build businesses.

🎯 Employability Skills — help you secure employment, remain relevant and grow your career.

The important thing is that these skills complement one another.

For example, knowing how to design a graphic is a technical skill.

But communicating with a client, managing deadlines, pricing your service, marketing yourself and presenting your portfolio require other skill sets.

Don't just become skilled. Become well-rounded.

Swipe through the carousel and identify the skill area you need to develop next.

👇 Which of the five do you think young professionals often neglect?

A group of talented individuals doesn't automatically become a high-performing team.

Great teams are built intentionally. 👀

Many organizations invest in hiring the best people but overlook what truly transforms individuals into a cohesive, results-driven team.

High-performing teams are built on:
✅ A shared vision and clear goals
✅ Defined roles and responsibilities
✅ Trust and mutual respect
✅ Open and effective communication
✅ Accountability for results
✅ Collaboration over competition
✅ Continuous learning and improvement
✅ Strong leadership and support

When these elements are in place, teams don't just complete tasks—they solve problems, innovate, and consistently deliver exceptional results.

In this video, we discuss Building High-Performing Teams and explore the principles that help leaders create teams that are engaged, productive, resilient, and committed to organizational success.

Remember: Great organizations are not built by extraordinary individuals alone—they are built by ordinary people working together extraordinarily well. 🚀

I believe sustainable revenue begins with informed and empowered taxpayers. My proposal is a National Business Accelerator Programme that integrates entrepreneurship development with tax education and voluntary compliance to strengthen Nigeria's fiscal governance and economic growth.

Conflict in the workplace is inevitable.

How you manage it determines whether your team grows stronger or falls apart. 👀

Differences in opinions, personalities, priorities, and communication styles are natural in every organization. Left unmanaged, however, these differences can reduce productivity, damage relationships, and weaken team morale.

Effective leaders don't ignore conflict—they manage it constructively.

Successful conflict management involves:
✅ Identifying the root cause of the conflict
✅ Listening to all parties objectively
✅ Encouraging respectful and open communication
✅ Focusing on issues rather than personalities
✅ Finding fair, practical, and lasting solutions
✅ Restoring trust, collaboration, and accountability

The goal isn't to eliminate conflict entirely. It's to create a workplace where disagreements lead to better ideas, stronger relationships, and improved performance.

In this video, we discuss Conflict Management in the Workplace and share practical strategies for resolving workplace conflicts while building a culture of respect, collaboration, and high performance.

Remember: Great leaders don't fear conflict—they know how to transform it into an opportunity for learning, innovation, and stronger teamwork. 🚀

Every organization has a story.

Ours began with a simple vision: make practical learning more accessible and help people turn knowledge into real opportunities.

What started as a one-man initiative in 2023 has grown into a learning community with 85+ practical courses, 1,459+ registered learners, and a dedicated team of five—and we're still growing.

We're grateful to every learner, partner, supporter, and team member who has been part of this journey. Your trust inspires us to keep improving and expanding our impact.

This isn't just our story.

It's a story we're building together.

Every manager will eventually face a difficult employee.

The real test isn't whether it happens—it's how you respond. 👀

Ignoring difficult behavior can damage productivity, team morale, and workplace culture.

Overreacting can create fear, resentment, and disengagement.

The goal is to address the issue while preserving the dignity of the individual and the unity of the team.

Effective managers:
✅ Address issues early before they escalate
✅ Separate the person from the behavior
✅ Listen before making conclusions
✅ Set clear expectations and consequences
✅ Coach where improvement is possible
✅ Apply policies fairly and consistently
✅ Protect team morale while maintaining accountability

Managing difficult employees is not about winning a confrontation—it's about restoring performance, reinforcing standards, and building a healthier work environment.

In this video, we discuss Managing Difficult Employees Without Destroying Morale and share practical strategies for handling workplace challenges with professionalism, fairness, and emotional intelligence.

Remember: Great leaders don't avoid difficult conversations—they handle them with clarity, courage, and respect. 🚀

The best managers don't just supervise people.

They coach them. 👀

Giving instructions may help employees complete today's tasks, but coaching helps them grow into tomorrow's high performers.

Coaching is about unlocking potential—not just correcting mistakes.

An effective manager coaches employees by:
✅ Asking the right questions instead of giving all the answers
✅ Providing timely, constructive feedback
✅ Identifying strengths and development areas
✅ Setting clear goals and expectations
✅ Encouraging continuous learning and problem-solving
✅ Supporting employees as they overcome challenges

When coaching becomes part of the workplace culture:
📈 Performance improves
📈 Confidence grows
📈 Engagement increases
📈 Future leaders are developed
📈 Teams become more resilient and productive

In this video, we discuss Coaching Employees for Better Performance and explain how coaching transforms managers from task supervisors into people developers.

Remember: Great managers don't create dependent employees—they develop capable, confident, and self-reliant professionals. 🚀

Why do some employees consistently go the extra mile while others do just enough to get by? 👀

The answer isn't always salary.

While compensation matters, long-term performance is often driven by a combination of purpose, recognition, growth, leadership, and the work environment.

Employees are more likely to perform when they:
✅ Understand how their work contributes to organizational goals
✅ Feel valued and appreciated
✅ Receive regular feedback and recognition
✅ Have opportunities to learn and grow
✅ Trust their leaders and teammates
✅ Work in a positive and supportive culture

Great leaders understand that motivation is not about controlling people—it's about creating the conditions that inspire people to give their best.

In this video, we discuss Employee Motivation: What Really Makes People Perform? and explore the key factors that influence engagement, commitment, and sustained high performance.

Remember: People may work for a paycheck, but they often perform at their best when they feel valued, challenged, trusted, and connected to a meaningful purpose. 🚀
