Male-to-Female Ratio in BSF Breeding:
Load the Right Quantity and Quality of Pupae per cage/love net.

The male-to-female ratio is an important factor in BSF breeding because successful mating directly affects egg production.
A practical starting point is approximately 1 male : 1 female, while allowing the colony to naturally maintain a reasonable balance rather than trying to achieve an exact ratio.
For commercial breeding, focus less on the number of adults alone and more on the actual performance of the colony:
Mating activity
Egg production (g/kg pupae)
Egg hatchability (%)
Neonate survival (%)
Adult emergence and mortality

More males do not necessarily mean more eggs. Likewise, having many females without enough successful mating can reduce the number of viable eggs.
