I am ashamed of my first position.😭

So I’m currently learning a new language and I’m using Duolingo as one of my go to resources.

Now Duolingo has this section called leagues where you are to compete with 49 other people around the world and only the top 10 can advance to next league.

So when I got to the 4th league, I decided on making sure I come 1st place no matter what, so I took as many lessons as possible.

But then there was a slight issue.

There were two other users gunning for that same position and boy did they keep me up at night.

On the 3rd day I was at 1500 points and still I was 3rd place

It was tough.

I was never 1st place for long before Ankita & Daniel Lawand overtook me. (that was their names)

But I eventually won on the last day though but I made over 4000points to get there.

Now why is this story relevant?

Well that is because I am currently in new league with 49 other new people and I have been 1st place for 3 consecutive days with just 557 points.

I know I can easily get to 2k points but the ginger to do so is just not there.

I am first place but it’s a disgraceful first place in my books and I can’t wait to be done with this league.

Just know this.

Be very aware of the people you are competing with.

Some people’s life goal is to see what is at the end of the tunnel while others are looking beyond the stars.

Qualify your competition and make sure they are worth it.

So, with that being said, what language are you currently learning with

A few days ago, I was working on crafting a compelling bio on a platform and decided to try an experiment.

First off, I wrote the bio off the top of my head and did all the edits after I was done.

It was good, I suppose.

I put that work aside and did something else...

I went on full blown research on other people’s bios on that same platform.

I got the best ones, modelled it and crafted a new bio.

This new one was STUPENDOUSLY awesome.

A bit of advice...

Do not get easily caught up in the web of being the ‘originator’ of everything that you end up stuck doing nothing.

The fastest and easiest way to raise capital is to use other people’s money.

The quickest way to expand your audience and influence is to use other people’s stages.

The simplest way to craft a message is to use other people’s knowledge.

Invest time or money or both on Marketing as much as possible

Be it social media, paid ads, emails, offline, whichever,

Use every opportunity possible to promote your business or brand.

DON’T PUSH THAT SEND BUTTON UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE THIS

The best way to make your content more relevant is to make it more relatable and this is a spot a lot of people struggle with.

It doesn’t matter if it is a simple post on social media, your regular emails or even a sales letter...
..this is the same with pretty much every form of written content and there is a neat trick to help you in making it relate better.

This trick, though it sounds so simple and lame, is what the top marketers and copywriters use before they release any piece of content...

…and what’s amazing about it is that anyone can do it.

It’s super simple and here it is.

Read your content ALOUD.

Yes, it sounds like a silly no-brainer but just hear me out.

Try to remember and find the post that you enjoyed reading recently.

Did it feel like the person was speaking to you?

Reading aloud helps you practice talking with your reader and readers want to feel like you are talking about them...
..and also talking TO them

Just because social media is made out of tech doesn’t mean it should be less of a human space and people will easily connect with human interaction over robotic ones.

Read the post you enjoyed recently and see, then try it with your next post before you release it.

Having only 2 of these 3 will trample your efficiency and having only 1 is a huge gamble.

The big and successful companies usually have separate teams, budgets and departments for each.
..maybe you are not a big company yet.
.. maybe you don't have the money to perform at maximum on these 3
..but you have time, don't you?

So do your ample research, take part in trainings where these are taught, study your competition and in all things - test.

You are less likely to make fatal business mistakes when you do these.

Did you know that you can be saying the right message, doing your best to help good people and yet those are the wrong people for you.

That AHA moment was my what i experienced, half way to the top of some rock near my home when i decided to go hiking yesterday.

That epiphany struck me like a bolt and i ran down the rock as if something was chasing me. (and that nonsense fellow and friend who is tiny on that image of me started running away too when he saw me coming down)

And funny enough, my answer has been with me since 2018 and i didn't even realize it.

Sometimes when you start questioning your if your direction is right for so long, it may mean you its time to quit or you swayed any one point without realising it.

Find your way back

There are some chapters i have to close and breakups are imminent.

But we move and we move higher.

Sometimes we get very caught up in what we have been doing for a long time that adopting new ways of doing things, or even completely changing our process becomes somewhat impossible.

Do not fall for it.

It's your brain trying to trick you into being safe by not making change and taking risk.

When you are engaging im something different, go the extra mile, to the barest minimum to get your findings.

You are trying a new endeavour, do your research.

Your sales are dropping, get to the bottom as to why.

Your engagement is getting lower, check what others are doing and find out why theirs is growing higher.

If your strategy is no longer working, find out the one that does.

Stop doing guess work everytime.

Pretty much everyone has and will find themselves at this point for something they desire to accomplish.

But you know very well that knowing what you want and getting it has something in between called process.

The process of trials…
The process of success…
The process of wins…
The process of failures, disappointments, hot premium tears and all that good stuff.

This harsh truth is this…

You will never experience any of the processes that are attached to those wishes of yours if you don’t start.

You will just sit-down-look and see it happening to others and keep wishing.

Stop praying and waiting to act.

Do it NOW and FAST!

Early July I was hit with severe health issues that pretty much crippled me for a week...
..and even with the hatred I have for hospitals I had no choice but to go there for my treatment.

I did the recommended tests, collected all d drugs, too 4 injections in 3 days, tor my wallet for the fees and soon I started getting better…

…or so I thought.

Exactly one month after, I fell sick again. Same symptoms but this time it felt much worse.
Maybe it was because I felt like I was hit by a massive truck this time…

…or fact that I slumped the morning I was to head to, this time, another hospital was what made me make that conclusion but one thing was certain…

…I was having a relapse from the previous sickness and it wasn’t any pleasant at all.

I fortunately discovered quickly that the previous hospital gave me a wrong diagnosis, over billed me and provided me with subpar treatment as they were expecting me to fall sick again so I could return back to them.

A friend went through that cycle with the same hospital for over 6 months before he discovered and saved himself.

Now away for my health and right to you.

Those people who are watching you, are you watching them too?

Are you asking questions about them before and after the set relationship begin?

If things go wrong once do you wonder why?

Do you think if continuing on with them is advisable?

Do you even bother to ask questions at all?

Be it a service provider or a mentor, please do your due diligence and make enquiry, especially if you are a first-time user or beginner in anything.

Do not live anything to just chance.

We all know that this is digital skill acquisition season and pretty much everyone is mostly at home, bored and realised how important it is to have a digital inclined skill.

For some its the perfect opportunity to add to the skills that they currently have (myself inclusive) but you know very well not to be caught up in acquiring too many skills at once.

Today you learn Graphics design, tomorrow you are on programing, next week you are doing data entry, soon you realized that you would have loved to be the one that made you aunty's cake, another day....
..mummy and daddy calm down....

Good and fine you have a lot of options to pick from but there is also a chance where you add so many skills to your belt that you become paralyzed on which direction to take.

So before you add any skill to your current ones with the purpose of making a business or career out of it, ask yourself... :

1. If this new skill serves as a supplement for your current skillset or service offering?

2. If you have the capacity and tools needed to perform with this new skill?

3. If the usage of this skill will take much of your time and bring back returns that will offset the time used?

Unless you are trying to move on to a different product or service offering, if your answers come out as negative, then you need to revaluate yourself and purpose.

And also, if you good at something and you want to pivot into something else, there is no harm is hiring someone to carry out that task for you.

You can't be doing everything.

You are not God.

Remember when you did well in a test and you tell everyone "I got an A in the course!...
..and when you do poorly it becomes, "the lecturer gave me a D"?

During that time, you are basically seeking validation from your peers to justify your result...
..and also demonize your lecturer when you fail.

Well in life, you can do that all you want, but the fact is, the only person whose opinion matters the most is yours.

If you like, hate life for failing you...
..life will go on regardless.

Just do what you must everyday and drink water.

You can hear all the motivation in the world but if you like don't act...

then that one is you own cup of hot 'palaver'😒
