For 13 years, I was a stay-at-home mum. I speak about it today with mixed feelings, because honestly, it wasnโ€™t funny back then. I often felt held back and hindered. But my mum kept encouraging me. She would always say, โ€œYouโ€™ll thank God that you were there for them.โ€

And truly, I was thereโ€”fully involved in every detail of their lives. Homework, personal hygiene, emotional check-insโ€”you name it. There was no homework I didnโ€™t see. There was no lesson teacher I didnโ€™t supervise. I had time, and I invested it in raising my children.

Last Saturday at the Parentsโ€™ Roundtable Conference, I sat back and watched my last baby confidently discuss parenting. Watching my daughter in one of the most powerful sessions of the conference was a deeply proud moment for me. My Buchi was bold, articulate, and a strong voice in the room.

As I watched and listened, I smiledโ€ฆ I criedโ€ฆ

Memories of those early yearsโ€”when parenting was my full-time jobโ€”came flooding back.

Beyond the thoughtful ideas and insights she shared, Buchi brought even more value...

Yes, she did!

๐“๐‡๐„๐‘๐„'๐’ ๐๐Ž ๐“๐ˆ๐Œ๐„...

โ€œThatโ€™s one of the most common phrases parents use today. And truly, these days, hardly anyone has timeโ€”especially parents.

Our amazing parents are constantly running helter-skelter, working tirelessly to make more money so they can give their children what they believe are the very best things in life. I genuinely understand this, especially considering the worsening economic situation we all face.

But lest we forgetโ€ฆ

There are trade-offs.
There are opportunity costs.

One thing that deeply struck me at the Parentsโ€™ Roundtable Conference last Saturday was a timeless truth: โ€œTime is the currency of parenting.โ€

And another powerful reminder followed: โ€œAs long as you breathe, your parenting role cannot be delegated.โ€

No matter who you hand it over to, nobody can parent your child quite like you.

Yet, these days, many parents delegate their childrenโ€™s entire educational needs to schools. Spiritual formation is outsourced as well. Physical and emotional care? Thatโ€™s left to the nanny at home.

โ€œThereโ€™s no timeโ€ โ€” a na ada ebe niile.

Some parents truly donโ€™t have time. Others do, but simply want relief from the pressure of parentingโ€”because yes, parenting can be intense.

Rising from that life-changing Parentsโ€™ Roundtable Conference, I believe the time has come for parents to pause, reflect, and honestly examine the price they are paying for the time they deny their children.

Check it very well oโ€ฆ

Time is a currency.

The parenting duties you delegate today may become the source of your sleepless nights tomorrow.

If you keep saying โ€œthereโ€™s no timeโ€ now, a day may come when there will be no timeโ€”or opportunityโ€”to repair the damage caused by parental neglect.

Wouldnโ€™t you rather drop some of those extra activities that steal your precious parenting time and intentionally invest in raising your children the way they should go?

Wouldnโ€™t you rather do the needful now and sleep well in the future?

โ€œYour children are likely to grow up acting almost like youโ€ฆ

Research shows children naturally learn through imitation โ€” especially from parents โ€” because they are hard-wired to copy the adults around them from infancy. Babies begin imitating gestures by 7โ€“8 months, and this kind of modeling continues as they grow. โ€
