For 13 years, I was a stay-at-home mum. I speak about it today with mixed feelings, because honestly, it wasnโt funny back then. I often felt held back and hindered. But my mum kept encouraging me. She would always say, โYouโll thank God that you were there for them.โ
And truly, I was thereโfully involved in every detail of their lives. Homework, personal hygiene, emotional check-insโyou name it. There was no homework I didnโt see. There was no lesson teacher I didnโt supervise. I had time, and I invested it in raising my children.
Last Saturday at the Parentsโ Roundtable Conference, I sat back and watched my last baby confidently discuss parenting. Watching my daughter in one of the most powerful sessions of the conference was a deeply proud moment for me. My Buchi was bold, articulate, and a strong voice in the room.
As I watched and listened, I smiledโฆ I criedโฆ
Memories of those early yearsโwhen parenting was my full-time jobโcame flooding back.
Beyond the thoughtful ideas and insights she shared, Buchi brought even more value...
Yes, she did!
