"Our 1960 national anthem, given to us as a parting gift by a British housewife in England, had called Nigeria ‘our sovereign motherland’.

The current anthem, put together by a committee of Nigerian intellectuals and actually worse than the first one, invokes the father image.

But it has occurred to me that Nigeria is neither my mother nor my father.

Nigeria is a child. Gifted, enormously talented, prodigiously endowed and incredibly wayward."

*FOUR STAGES OF ELIMINATION IN LIFE*👇

1. At *60*, the workplace eliminates you. No matter how successful or powerful you were during your career, you'll return to being an ordinary person. So, don't cling to the mindset and sense of superiority from your past job. Let go of your ego, or you might lose your sense of ease!

2. At *70*, society gradually eliminates you. The friends and colleagues you used to meet and socialize with become fewer, and hardly anyone recognizes you at your former workplace. Don't say, "I used to be..." or "I was once..." because the younger generation won't know you, and you mustn't feel uncomfortable about it!

3. At *80*, family slowly eliminates you. Even if you have many children and grandchildren, most of the time, you'll be living with your spouse or by yourself. When your children visit occasionally, it's an expression of affection, so don't blame them for coming less often, as they're busy with their own lives!

4. At *90*, the Earth wants to eliminate you. Some of the people you knew have already departed forever. At this point, don't be sad or mournful because this is the way of life, and everyone will eventually follow this path!

*REMEMBER,*
*1. the only thing that won't eliminate you eternally is God because at the end of our journey here on earth, we shall all return to Him with accounts of how we lived our lives*
*2. So, meet Him more,*
*3. Communicate with Him more,*
*4. Obey His orders, and*
*5. Maintain your presence with Him*

*Therefore, while our bodies are still capable, live life to the fullest! Worship God in truth and in spirit. And there will be no regrets living out our lives for Him!*

Happy New Month, and stay blessed!

: THEY DON'T USE UMBRELLA ☔
°°
Did you know that in Iwoye-Ketu, it is forbidden to use umbrella.
Iwoye-Ketu is a community that sits between Nigeria and The Republic of Benin, it’s about 98km away from Abeokuta, Ogun State and sharing the border with Oyo state to the North.

Around the world almost everybody owns or rents an ☔ umbrella ☂️ and use them as a canopy to cover themselves under the rain or hot 🌞 sun.
But this is not the case in Iwoye-Ketu area of Ogun State, Nigeria.
The villager prefer to get soaked in the rain than use an umbrella.

History: The custom goes back to the 1700s when the first settlers discovered this community.
From that period to date, even with the coming of Christianity and Islam to this community, they still practice this strange tradition.

“In those days, our forefathers used to hunt elephants in the forests. Since elephants have big ears that are wide like an umbrella, they felt threatened by the sight of umbrellas anytime they saw hunters with them. Most times, the elephants would chase after them and caused many vicious attacks”. - JOEL AREMU (monarch) he told the Punch.

The youths of this community do not really agree with this tradition but they don’t disobey the rule.

The population of Iwoye-Ketu, Ogun State is about 75,000 people and the majority of them are farmers, hunters and their ancestors hail from Ile-Ife, Osun State.

History says that one of the first settlers Olumu(from Ile-Ife) came with three items namely; a crown, a staff which is called Opa Ogbo and 👑 his deity known as Orisa Oluwa.
Surprisingly, It is the Orisa Oluwa deity that forbids they use of umbrellas, and also forbids the rearing of pigs because they are seen as dirty animals.

Many residents of the community have umbrellas bu only make use of it when they are outside the community.
While within in the community, they use hoods, raincoats, traditional woven hats, and polythene to protect themselves from the rain.

SOME FREE LEGAL TIPS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING LANDED PROPERTIES IN NIGERIA

1. When buying family properties, especially royal or traditional families, ensure that you are dealing with the Head of the family and at least two principal members of the family, who are adults. Anything short of this, the sale is NULL. Head of the family alone cannot sell family property and principal members of the family alone cannot sell family property. It’s even worse if you are dealing just one person claiming to be the representative of the family.

2. When buying land from a company, ensure that you get the Status Report of the company before paying. Be certain that the property is not only registered in the name of the company but also the directors are the ones signing the documents with you. Insist on getting the means of identification of the seller. If they tell you they are selling on behalf of the family, refer to number 1 above by requesting for the Deed of Power of Attorney.

3. The fact that a property has a C of O is not a conclusive proof of title. You have to be certain that the C of O was not falsified or obtained by fraud or obtained over an encumbered property. Similarly, when a property is covered by a Deed of Assignment, ensure that it is a duly registered and stamped Deed and it is verified to be unencumbered. An unregistered Deed of Assignment cannot transfer a valid legal title. Ir is not different from a Contract of a sale of Land.

4. When buying property from a Church or Mosque, ensure that it is registered in the registered name of the Church or the Mosque. Also, make sure that you are dealing with the registered Trustees because not all Imams and Pastors are Trustees of the Church and Mosques. In most cases, they are just employees and get paid monthly salaries. So they cannot sell any property to you.

5. When buying property from a couple. If possible, request for their marriage certificate and do not deal with either the husband or wife. Make sure you deal with both of them. Don’t fall for, I have my husband or wife permission to sell. Also, make sure they both sign your documents in the presence of a witness. Otherwise, the sale can easily be set aside, especially when they are going through a divorce.

6. When buying a property that’s a subject of a will. Don’t fall for “my dad or mum” willed it to me without sighting the will. Also, sighting the will is not enough, you must make sure that the will is not subject to any litigation and the Executors of the Will have issued an Assent to the beneficiary selling the property to you. Without the document called “Assent”, no beneficiary can sell any property he or she inherited to you. Also, make sure you ask for a copy of the “Probate” issued to the Executors; because that’s the only document that gives the Executors the power to issue Assent. If it’s not a will, then ensure you have a copy of the Letters of Administration. Without this, you have not acquired a property.

7. When buying a property from a Developer, the title documents are not enough. Ask for development or building permits. Ask for evidence of payment of ground rents and land use charges on the property.

Nigeria, we hail thee,
Our own dear native land,
Though tribe and tongue may differ,
In brotherhood, we stand,
Nigerians all, and proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.

Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign,
In peace or battle honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.

O God of all creation,
Grant this our one request,
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed,
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria may be blessed.

*THE BEAUTY OF CLASSMATES*

https://infinitycleaningy.medium.com/the-beauty-of-classmates-f0d7f3d3e580

Many years ago I was working as a clerk at a faculty in one popular university in Nigeria, then I saw an advert for NDA (Nigeria Defence Academy), I have always loved to go to NDA so I applied, submitted my form and was called for admission examination.

I had to travel to Kaduna all the way from Osun State, I have a distant uncle that was resident there then. I wrote a letter (no telephone at the time) to my uncle that I was coming to sit for an exam in Kaduna and would love to stay in their house.

I didn't get a reply to my letter even as my departure date was approaching. I became so worried because I needed to go anyway, as I was talking to a colleague in the office concerning my fear of where to stay, our office cleaner who was a Hausa man overheard us and in his broken English interjected that he knew someone right inside NDA.

Who could he know there? *Is it not a cleaner like himself*, I unintentionally said it out to his hearing. "Oga no o, the commandant op za NDA na ma classmate and ma priend". In his bad handwriting, he scribbled the commandant's name on a piece of paper. "Just mention my name's por am, him go helf you."

I reluctantly collected the paper from him, not because I intended to make use of it but because I didn't want him to feel bad.

The next day, I set out on this long journey by train from Osogbo. I got to Kaduna a day later towards evening. Upon getting there, I went straight to my uncle's house only to find out that they had relocated from that place and no one knew their new address. I became stranded and it was getting late.

Around after 7pm, I made up my mind to give my cleaner's contact a shot. I got to the gate of NDA and mentioned the name I was given. To my utmost surprise, everyone in that bit, recognized the name and one person was promptly detailed to take me to his office.

I gave the paper where Kabiru wrote his name and that of his friend to the secretary who took it inside. On sighting the paper, the commandant shouted from the office and followed the secretary outside to usher me in. "Where do you know Kabiru?" "He's my colleague in the office, Sir," I answered.
"Where is he? How is he? Hope he's doing well?" This man was asking me many questions in an obvious excitement.

The look on his face confirmed to me that Kabiru was his beloved friend. He asked me what I came to do in Kaduna and I said it was for the NDA exams. "Wow, do you have where to sleep?" "No, sir." He immediately called someone to take me to his house. On getting to the house, I was lavishly entertained.

This man came late in the night and he woke me up and took me up on tutorials for the next day's exams. After the exams, he personally drove me to the park the next day.

When I got back to the campus, I began to look at Kabiru with a different eyes. How on earth does this man know such a powerful person? Needless to say, my name was number four on the list when the results came out.

Friends, I put it to you today that relationship is a currency. Every man needs another man to move up and that man may be the neighbour you look down on, maybe the taxi driver you so despise or even the house help you think is a nobody today.

Relationship is a stream of income. Everything in life actually reproduces on the basis of relationship. Those we know in life matter. *Most of us are talented but we need a cupbearer that will tell Pharaoh that there's a Joseph that can interpret dreams.* we need our old school mates irrespective of their status today.
Hook up with your class mates in the primary, secondary and tertiary schools alumni.

There are some heights you may never get to in life until someone tells someone about you even in church or mosque. Therefore, shut the door on relationships gently. You may need to use it tomorrow.

Let us take our relationships seriously. Even if you meet online, don't look down on anyone. You never can tell which of the relationships will be your own key to success.

Highlights of Federal Executive Council decisions on Monday 26 February

Here are some of the highlights of the far reaching decisions taken today at the Federal Executive Council meeting, chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

1. FEC approved construction of Lagos-Port Harcourt-Calabar Coastal Superhighway to Messrs Hitech Construction Africa. The First phase made up of 47 kms will begin in Lagos.
2. Social security payments to the vulnerable households to begin immediately. Recipients will be those with NIN and BVN.

3. Social security payments to be extended to graduates from NCE and upwards

4. Consumer Credit to be established very urgently. Chief of Staff to lead a committee that includes Budget Minister, Attorney-General, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance, to make the scheme a reality.

5. The Council in order to enhance efficiency in the Federal service, and reduce the cost of governance, decided to implement the recommendations of the Steve Oronsaye panel on the restructuring and rationalisation of Federal agencies, parastatals and commissions.

The implementation involves merging, subsuming and scrapping agencies with similar functions.

The Oronsaye report was submitted in 2012 to the Jonathan administration. In 2014, the Jonathan government released a white paper on the report. The Buhari administration after re-examining the white paper also released a second white paper in August 2022, but did not implement the report.

However, the Tinubu administration has decided to confront the monster of high governance cost by implementing elements of the report.

An eight-man committee has a 12-week deadline to ensure that the necessary legislative amendments and administrative restructuring needed to implement the reforms are effected in an efficient manner.

The committee comprises Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service, Attorney General and Justice Minister, Budget and Planning Minister, DG Bureau of Public Service Reform, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Special assistant to the president on National Assembly. The Cabinet Affairs Office will serve as the secretariat.

Key recommendations for implementation:

National Salaries, Income and wages Commission to be subsumed under Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission. The National Assembly will need to amend the constitution as RMAFC was established by the constitution.

Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission to be merged with Bureau of Public Enterprise and be rechristened as `Public Enterprises and Infrastructural Concession Commission

National Human Rights Commission to swallow Public Complaints Commission
